Your Opportunity

Our Calgary Water Team is growing, and we want you to join our team to work alongside others who share your passion to support communities through exciting and unique water, wastewater, general civil infrastructure, and solid waste projects as well as water resources and natural system projects.

We are seeking an intermediate-level Construction Manager to support delivery of municipal water and wastewater projects. This position is intentionally targeted to experienced contractor-side professionals-such as Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Managers, or early-career Superintendents-who are ready to broaden their responsibility and gain owner-side delivery experience.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Acting as the Owner's representative for defined construction scopes or site areas
  • Coordinating contractors, inspectors, and internal technical teams
  • Supporting construction sequencing, site logistics, and constructability planning
  • Reviewing RFIs, shop drawings, and field changes
  • Monitoring schedule, cost, quality, and safety performance
  • Supporting progress reporting, issue tracking, and meeting coordination
  • Assisting with commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities

This is a hands-on, field-engaged role with regular site presence. You will receive mentorship and technical support from senior construction managers and engineers.

Who This Role Is For
  • Project Engineers, Assistant PMs, or PMs from contractor organizations
  • Early-career Superintendents or field-focused construction leads
  • Professionals with approximately 8-10 years of construction experience
  • Individuals looking to step into broader construction leadership without contractor commercial risk

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

Required:
  • Approximately 8-10 years of construction or project delivery experience
  • Experience working for a contractor on civil, infrastructure, or industrial projects
  • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and safety
  • Comfort working on active construction sites and interfacing with contractors

Valued (Not Required):
  • Engineering degree or construction management diploma
  • Water, wastewater, utilities, or municipal infrastructure experience
  • Experience working with municipalities or public owners

A university degree is not required. A diploma, trade background, or equivalent practical experience is fully acceptable.

Work Location & Travel
  • Projects primarily located within the Lower Mainland
  • Regular site presence within day-trip distance
  • Extended rotation or remote camp work is not typical

Why This Is a Strong Career Step
  • Opportunity to move from work-package execution to project-level influence
  • Owner-side role without carrying contractor commercial risk
  • Exposure to full construction lifecycle on complex infrastructure projects
  • Stable, long-term municipal infrastructure program
  • Strong mentorship from experienced construction and technical leadership

The position will work in both a field and office setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out-of-town projects when needed.
