Job Title: Seibi Technician / Engineering Technician - Battery Production Engineering

Location: Liberty, North Carolina
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Travel: Up to 30% Domestic / Occasional International
Overtime: Up to 30% (weekends, holidays, shutdowns as required)

Overview

Production Engineering Battery Department is seeking a highly motivated Seibi Technician / Engineering Technician to support machine installation, equipment integration, technical troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities for advanced battery manufacturing operations.

This role serves as part focused on improving Operation Availability (OA), supporting capital project execution, and ensuring production equipment is optimized from installation through Start of Production (SOP).

This is a highly hands-on technical engineering support role requiring strong electrical troubleshooting, industrial equipment modification, machine validation, and launch support experience within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute initial machine setup, adjustment, and production integration activities for battery manufacturing equipment
  • Support capital equipment projects from planning, installation, commissioning, and Start of Production (SOP)
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and modify industrial electrical systems including:
    • relay logic
    • motors
    • circuits
    • wiring
    • servo drives
    • machine controls
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic machine systems
  • Perform machine leveling, alignment, quality confirmation, and assigned equipment adjustments
  • Support vendor machine trials and internal Toyota machine trials to validate functionality and production readiness
  • Identify technical deficiencies, develop corrective action plans, and track closure to completion
  • Improve machine safety, quality, productivity, and operational availability through root cause problem solving and kaizen activity
  • Certify equipment safety compliance using Toyota "White Kanban Check" standards
  • Develop and manage detailed schedules for assigned machine areas and project tasks
  • Complete work documentation and reporting using written and electronic methods
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, construction, contractors, and production teams to remove project barriers and meet launch milestones

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Industrial Controls / Engineering Technician experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of hands-on electrical troubleshooting and repair of industrial production equipment
  • Strong experience supporting:
    • equipment installation
    • machine modification
    • machine optimization
    • commissioning/startup
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, machine controls, relay logic, wiring, motors, and servo systems
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems with the ability to read technical schematics
  • Strong understanding of multi-trade industrial equipment work and ability to identify deficiencies and drive corrective actions to closure
  • Experience developing schedules, prioritizing technical work, and reporting project status
  • Ability to support overtime, holidays, shutdowns, and weekend project activity
  • Ability to travel up to 30% for vendor trials and Toyota support activity

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or related technical field
  • Experience supporting pre-production equipment setup / launch activity
  • Experience gathering and analyzing quality or equipment performance data for root cause analysis
  • Experience in high-volume automated manufacturing
  • Clean room manufacturing exposure highly preferred
  • Toyota, automotive battery, EV, or advanced manufacturing experience is a plus
