Full Job Description
Summary

Provost & Pritchard is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as Lead Inspector at our Canyon Tunnel project in Knights Ferry near Oakdale, CA for the duration of the project (3 to 4 years) and could be eligible for daily per diem. This role ensures the project is executed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and contract documents.

Responsibilities

Lead Inspector Duties:
  • Interpret plans and contract documents to ensure on-site compliance.
  • Monitor and inspect ongoing construction activities.
  • Report deviations from design documents to supervisor promptly.
  • Maintain thorough daily inspection reports and photographic documentation.
  • Verify completed work meets contract standards and quality expectations.
  • Provide sketches and field notes for Record Drawings as needed.
  • Coordinate closely with project teams to resolve field issues collaboratively.
  • Ensure availability for inspections as needed by the owner or client.
  • Maintain organized records

Other duties can include:
  • Review and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals.
  • Coordinate with the design team for timely RFI and submittal reviews.
  • Review pay requests for accuracy
  • Responsible for compliance with Field Directives
  • Responsible for compliance with Contract Change Orders


Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree, technical certification, or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of experience in construction inspection or construction site management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and contract administration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues tactfully and efficiently.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, schedules, and contract documents.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements, environmental compliance, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Familiarity with public contract code requirements.
  • Familiarity with Materials testing and inspection procedures.
  • Familiarity with regulatory agencies and permitting procedures.
  • Certification in Construction Inspection, EIT, or PE is a plus.
  • Valid California driver's license required.
