Role: Construction Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent / Construction Consultant to oversee the construction, installation, startup, and commissioning of oil and gas surface facilities and pipeline projects. This role is responsible for managing field construction activities, coordinating contractors and stakeholders, maintaining project schedules, controlling costs, and ensuring all work is executed safely and in compliance with applicable industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience constructing production facilities, tank batteries, saltwater disposal (SWD) facilities, gas lift compression stations, and pipeline systems. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to work effectively with engineering, operations, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders to successfully deliver projects from construction through startup.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction activities for oil and gas surface facilities, including:
  • Production facilities and tank batteries
  • Saltwater disposal (SWD) facilities
  • Gas lift compression stations
  • Steel and composite pipeline systems
  • Supervise construction contractors, field crews, and subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and engineering packages.
  • Coordinate field execution with engineering, operations, environmental, regulatory, and construction teams.
  • Review and document field changes, redlines, and drawing markups as projects progress.
  • Maintain and update project schedules to track progress and identify potential delays.
  • Monitor project costs and provide routine cost tracking and forecasting reports.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, company standards, and applicable industry codes and regulations.
  • Support bid package development, contractor evaluations, and turnkey project execution.
  • Verify installation quality for mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Coordinate facility commissioning, startup activities, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
  • Facilitate contractor meetings, progress reviews, and safety discussions.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues, schedule conflicts, and field execution challenges.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, daily reports, and construction records.

Skills and Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing construction of oil and gas surface facilities.
  • Experience with onshore and/or offshore oil and gas construction projects.
  • Proven experience constructing:
  • Tank batteries and production facilities
  • Saltwater disposal (SWD) facilities
  • Gas lift compression stations
  • Steel and composite pipeline systems
  • Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, and multi-discipline construction crews.
  • Experience with facility startup, commissioning, and PSSR activities.
  • Experience with bid packages, contractor management, and turnkey project execution.

Technical Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of oil and gas production and surface facility systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems used in oil and gas facilities.
  • Familiarity with automation systems, controls, and Cause & Effect diagrams.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards and codes, including:
  • ASME
  • API
  • ANSI
  • NFPA
  • Understanding of pipeline construction regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with construction scheduling, cost tracking, and project reporting systems.
  • Experience with pipeline installation methods and facility construction best practices.
  • Experience with Zap-Lok pipeline installation systems is a plus.

  • Experience working across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, New Mexico, or similar oil and gas operating regions.
