Position Overview:

Woolpert is hiring an experienced Construction Manager to join our dynamic Construction Engineer & Inspection team to support our Aviation market, in the Midwest. This role will collaborate closely with design engineers, project managers, and market leadership to deliver high-quality infrastructure and airport construction projects. The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing construction phase services, including inspection management, contractor coordination, and client communication. This individual will lead field teams, ensure compliance with contract documents, and implement best practices to drive quality, safety, and project success.

The ideal candidate will be located in Indianapolis Indiana, but candidates located in Dayton or Cincinnati Ohio will also be considered.

What You Will Do:
  • Be part of a team delivering critical aviation related infrastructure projects, that include runways, taxiways, aprons and airfield lighting.
  • Manage construction inspection and quality assurance testing activities for diverse aviation related construction projects.
  • Coordinate change orders, RFI's, budgets, schedules and conduct contract administration.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
  • Monitor and track contractor performance, prepare daily and weekly progress reports and maintain accurate project documentation. ,.
  • Oversee quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
  • Provide on-site leadership, including issuing field direction and supporting resolution of construction issues.
  • Develop meeting agendas, facilitate discussions, and document meeting minutes.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of as-built drawings.
  • Promote and enforce job site safety standards and procedures.

What You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of construction management or project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering and land development construction practices, including means and methods.
  • Previous experience with FAA construction specifications is a plus.
  • Experience with construction inspection, observation reporting, and quantity tracking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance to team members.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to safely navigate construction sites and comply with all safety requirements.

Travel Requirements:
  • This role requires approximately 60% travel to support onsite airport projects in the Midwest US.
