Full Job Description
We have an immediate need in the Waco, TX area for a Construction Inspector for our Water/Wastewater division. The successful candidate will support our current staff while assisting in growing the W/WW Inspection practice to better service our clients statewide.

This role offers unlimited opportunities to maintain existing client relationships, broaden STV's service offerings geographically, be involved in major transportation projects, mentor junior staff, all while promoting the culture of a healthy work-life balance.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Under supervision, coordinates and performs observation of water/wastewater treatment plants, public works, water/wastewater utility lines, street, highway, bridge, building components, infrastructure and tract right of way on construction projects according to the specific areas of expertise of the inspector; performs related duties as required.
  • Conducts on-site observations of construction installations, including but not limited to materials, grade elevations, underground facilities, construction safety precautions, minor concrete
  • structures, traffic control devices, and erosion and siltation control installations to determine compliance with contract plans and specifications, and with city and other governmental regulations.
  • Reviews construction plans, specifications, encroachment permits, and other plans affecting assigned projects.
  • Participates in meetings to discuss construction details and resolves issues with contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • May make field measurements. May ensure conformance with applicable safety standards and regulations.
  • Assists in coordinating materials testing. Identifies on-site project problems.
  • Observes reports and alerts appropriate members of project team on non-conformance issues. Monitors the correction of project deficiencies.
  • Identifies and recommends approval of necessary contract and/or plan adjustments to accommodate field conditions.
  • Maintains daily diary and field records of material and quantities used.
  • Calculates and recommends formal approval of appropriate progress payments to contractors for work completed.
  • Investigates citizen complaints related to encroachment and/or grading violations.


Specific Requirements:
  • Applicant preferred to possess a minimum of 8 years of inspection or construction experience.
  • Having broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses construction concepts skills.
  • Works on significant and unique issues and projects requiring an evaluation of intangibles.
  • Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Contacts pertain to significant matters often involving coordination among groups. Occasionally provides consultation and advice to management regarding matters of considerable importance to the functional area.
  • Exercises judgment to independently determine methods and procedures for completing new or special assignments.
  • Occasionally provides direct or indirect supervision to other personnel.


Compensation Range:
$83,983.00 - $95,435.00
