Full Job Description
Genex Systems | USCG TRACEN, Yorktown, VA | Full-Time (40 hours/week)

This position is contingent upon Genex Systems being awarded this contract. Candidates selected for this role will be considered pending the outcome of the award decision, and Genex will follow up with next steps as soon as it's finalized.

About the Role

Genex Systems is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector to provide daily, on-site inspection and surveillance for a U.S. Coast Guard design-build construction project at TRACEN Yorktown. You will monitor the contractor's work for compliance with contract documents, document progress, and report findings to the government project team.

What You'll Do
  • Provide daily on-site inspection of construction work for compliance with drawings, specifications, and building codes
  • Review and sign daily construction reports; maintain field logs and an inspector's diary
  • Witness material and quality tests and verify contractor as-built drawings
  • Track submittals, review payment requests and certified payrolls, and monitor project schedules
  • Prepare weekly progress reports with photos documenting construction progress
  • Attend project meetings and communicate findings to the government project team

What You'll Need (Required)
  • Minimum 10 years of construction experience as a construction inspector, superintendent, or quality control manager (or 5 years with a related 4-year degree, PE, PMP, or QA/QC certification)
  • At least 2 years of experience on federal government construction projects within the last 10 years
  • Ability to read contract drawings and specifications, with strong knowledge of building codes and construction trades
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital reporting/photo documentation
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Availability for the full project duration, estimated at approximately 21 months

Nice to Have (Preferred)
  • QA/QC certifications
  • Prior U.S. Coast Guard project experience
  • Familiarity with Procore or similar construction management software.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000/ year, commensurate with education and experience.
