What You'll Do:

Construction Coordinator
  • Coordinate work activities of others within work group, team or those external to the company including contractors and vendors as required to resolve routine technical tasks and field work activities.
  • Perform varied assignments demonstrating technical knowledge and analytical techniques to solve problems or analysis.
  • Participate in the planning and organization of outage/project work activities.
  • Make decisions and contribute to team decision making and consensus building.
  • Monitor labor relation activities; develop and maintain rapport to assure cooperation and productive working relationships with contractors.
  • Work with others in both supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary.
  • Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees as appropriate.
  • Pursue effective ways to protect and enhance the environment while providing reliable electricity at a competitive cost.


Construction Coordinator Senior
  • Coordinates work activities of others within the work group, team or those located externally to AEP including contractors, vendors as required to resolve routine technical tasks and field work activities.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines. Monitor Work and Asset Management to ensure that work is performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to work beyond routine assignments by solving moderately complex problems. Works independently in resolving complex problems.
  • Participates in providing training, performance improvements for projects and activities of lower-level employees or peers.
  • Develops and maintains rapport to assure cooperation and productive working relationships with customers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work beyond routine assignments by solving problems of moderate complexity.
  • Effectively manages conflict and builds consensus for agreement concerning business and/or work issues.
  • Clearly and concisely develops and presents or reviews reports with customers as needed.
  • Initiates, leads and facilitates meetings effectively.
  • Provides input to routine project planning and schedule. Understands the use of scheduling techniques for budget and planning activities. Assist in the planning of outages/projects/assignments.
  • Participates in AEP and associated contractor's meetings covering outage/project schedule, safety issues and operations and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assists in evaluating contracting methods, reviewing drawings and preparing basic cost estimates using established standards.
  • Monitors work according to schedule and recommend necessary actions.


Construction Coordinator Principal
  • Makes technical decisions based on calculated risks without management review.
  • Identifies, resolves and initiates solutions to highly complex problems that are unique to AEP and the electric utility industry and that also require specialized knowledge of equipment and/or problem-solving techniques.
  • Develops, recommends and implements plans that include all scheduling, resource and cost information and control required to address complex problems that require input and efforts of a wide array of entities both internal and external to AEP.
  • Leads organizational unit activities in specific areas of plant, region, or outage/project work activities.
  • Leads project development activities related to specific, unique, and/or highly specialized areas.
  • Leads, facilitates and coordinates work activities of others within the work group, team or those located externally to AEP and assumes the role of a project or function manager for assigned tasks.
  • Partner with employees and management in identifying and analyzing business, performance and learning needs, problems or expectations.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college; OR
  • Associate's technical degree and 3 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment; OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.


Construction Coordinator Senior
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college; OR
  • Associate's technical degree and 6 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment; OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.


Construction Coordinator Principal
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college; OR an
  • Associate's technical degree and 10 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment; OR a
  • High school diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in the design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.
  • Typically requires 10 or more years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.
  • Must possess a professional or trade certification such as a CCMP, CETa, IQCP, PMP, or equivalent prior to progression into this level.


Construction Coordinator-Construction Coordinator Principal

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be available to work overtime, call out overtime and shift work, as required. Travel requirements are expected > 50 % of the time Physical demand level is Sedentary
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Listen and identify customer needs/wants.
  • Effectively communicate with team, management, customers, contractors, vendors and regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of AEP's general terms and conditions and the experience and ability to correctly interpret and administer contracts. Apply problem solving skills to resolve technical problems and initiate solution techniques.
  • Demonstrate an attitude and desire to listen to and satisfy both internal and external customers who use and depend upon our work.
  • Position requires working outside in all types of weather and exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Position may require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks and meet project/outage requirements and schedules.
  • Extensive travel required and possible relocation.
