Construction and Commissioning Mechanical Engineering Manager

Role Overview

The Construction and Commissioning Mechanical Engineering Manager leads a multidisciplinary engineering team providing technical guidance and troubleshooting for construction and commissioning of power generation projects. This role ensures development, governance, and continuous improvement of procedures while serving as a key interface between engineering, project management, and site execution teams for Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle (CCGT), and CHP projects. The position also leads efforts, collaborates with leadership, and provides strategic oversight to ensure efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Lead technical support efforts for construction and commissioning activities, including troubleshooting, field issue resolution, and guidance on mechanical installation, alignment, and system readiness.
  • Oversee development, review, and governance of construction and commissioning procedures ensuring alignment with OEM standards, contractual requirements, codes, and field practices.
  • Manage and develop a team of engineers, including resource allocation, performance management, mentoring, and workload planning.
  • Act as the primary technical interface across engineering, project management, quality, and site teams, aligning execution strategies and resolving cross-functional challenges.
  • Support execution readiness and risk reduction through constructability reviews, RCA activities, and ensuring milestone preparedness for project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and engineering standards while supporting audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or relateddiscipline from college or university and 12+ Years extensive direct experience in power generation construction, commissioning, or field engineeringis required.
  • Demonstrate experience developing and executing construction and commissioning procedures with prior team leadership or technical leadership experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, auxiliary systems, and combined cycle or CHP plant configurations.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex field issues and collaborate effectively with site teams, OEMs, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills with proficiency in engineering tools, project management software, and standard Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, electronic mail required.
  • Minimal travel May be required - potential to visit project sites involving both domestic and international travel for up to 30% of the assigned work year.
