JOB OVERVIEWThe Construction Administration Specialist (CAS) is responsible for the execution of multiple large-scale projects on behalf of CUBE 3 in the construction phase. The CAS must demonstrate construction expertise in all aspects of architecture / interiors projects including relevant experience in CA project management. The CAS reports to the project Studio Leader or Project Manager and will act as the main point of contact on-site for the project. The CAS reviews or generates shop drawings, bulletins, RFIs, site visits, field reports, change orders, and other CA documents and project close-out documentation. This position is responsible for maintaining client relationships and has the authority to engage and monitor all CA project activities. In addition, the CAS will also mentor staff members in the CA Phase as a technical resource and experienced construction specialist.
The CAS must demonstrate professional skill, high standards, sound judgment, professionalism political skills and strong communication with the Studio Leaders, CUBE 3 leadership, and the Director of QAQC to maintain and enhance client relationships and strong CAS performance across CUBE 3. The CAS will serve as part of the CUBE 3 QAQC Team.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION- Minimum of 8 years related experience in architecture and/or construction profession
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture
- Delivered at least three large ground-up buildings in Construction Administration comparable to CUBE 3-designed similar projects
- A strong understanding of local State and Municipal Building Codes
- A demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale construction projects and their respective contractors and clients
- Awareness and experience with the difficult legal environment of construction
SKILLS- Ability to oversee a project in Revit & Bluebeam
- Strong experience using industry standard CA software such as Pro-Core. CUBE 3 utilizes the CA software PART3 as a plug-in to Pro-core.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve, strong analytical skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of Architectural and/or Interior Design principles and theory associated with project design and construction materials and methods.
- Considerable experience in Type 5A and/or Type 3A Construction, stick-frame projects over steel or PT podiums, Slab-on-grade construction, for Multifamily and Student Housing developments.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES- Deliver multiple projects in Construction with minimal oversight
- Maintains ongoing, positive and proactive client relationships, as well as regular updates to the Architect of Record and Director of QAQC, located in Massachusetts
- Direct activities related to construction admin, including attending weekly or bi-weekly Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings, review of shop drawings, field observations, and change orders
- Ensures that CA activities emphasize efficiency, quality assurance, and code compliance
- Collaborate with Owners and contractors to solve problems in a time-pressure environment
- Navigate sensitive issues
- Provide periodic briefings/reports to Studio Leaders or PMs on various needs, costs, and recommendations
- Manage CA projects utilizing CUBE 3 Part3 CA Software
