Job Description

SAIC is seeking a Configuration Manager to join our team. This person must work at one of the following Government and/or SAIC locations: Arlington, VA, Ft. Meade, MD, or North Charleston, SC.

Job Summary:

The Configuration Manager will be responsible for providing comprehensive configuration management (CM) support for Department of War systems, specifically supporting the Naval Information Warfare Center - Atlantic (NIWC LANT) and U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) programs. This role involves establishing and maintaining the integrity of products and systems throughout their lifecycle. The Configuration Manager will identify, document, and verify the functional, performance, and physical characteristics of systems, control changes, and track configurations in accordance with military standards and program requirements. This position serves as either the primary or secondary point of contact for all CM-related matters and interfaces with various stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Configuration Management (CM) Process Development:
    Develop, document, and maintain the Configuration Management (CM) process, including creation and implementation of the Configuration Management Plan (CMP) in alignment with ANSI/EIA-649B principles and organizational strategy.
  • Baseline Management & Identification:
    Establish, document, and manage functional, allocated, and product baselines for hardware, software, documentation, and interfaces using a CM system for Configuration Status Accounting (CSA). Ensure baseline accuracy and compliance with system requirements.
  • Change Control & Board Management:
    Collaborate with stakeholders to manage change control processes, coordinate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and lead Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) to evaluate and implement approved changes.
  • Status Accounting & Reporting:
    Utilize CM databases to track configuration items, changes, and modifications, maintain related records, and produce reports for stakeholders on item status and changes.
  • Configuration Audits and Verification:
    Plan, conduct, and document Functional Configuration Audits (FCA) and Physical Configuration Audits (PCA), ensuring compliance with requirements, and address discrepancies using MIL-HDBK-61A guidelines.
  • Data, Software, and License Management:
    Oversee configuration data management for hardware and software procurements, track software licenses, and facilitate deployment to end-users while ensuring compliance.
  • Team Collaboration and Training:
    Coordinate with the CM Lead and stakeholders, provide input during program/design reviews, and train team members on CM roles, responsibilities, and processes.


Qualifications

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree and nine (9) years experience; Additional four (4) years experience can be considered in lieu of degree.

Clearance Requirements:
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI; US Citizenship required.

Required Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience with configuration management principles and practices as defined in MIL-HDBK-61A and ANSI/EIA-649B.
  • Proficiency with CM tools for status accounting and baseline management.
  • Experience in developing and managing CM plans, baselines, and change control processes for complex hardware and software systems.
  • Strong understanding of the engineering change process, including ECPs, RFDs, and NORs.
  • Experience in conducting and documenting FCAs and PCAs.
  • Familiarity with DoD data management systems such as DITPR.
