Job Title: Configuration Management Engineer
Location: London ON Canada + potential travel to UK and USA

Are you a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with an interest in the design of protection systems for the Defence Industry? NP Aerospace is looking for help to manage the integrity, consistency, and lifecycle of NPA's product configuration as it evolves through the development process to production and support. The ideal candidate will also have experience in mechanical design so that they can tackle design tasks when their CM duties permit.
As the Configuration Management Engineer with NP Aerospace's Canadian Engineering team, you'll play a vital role in developing, producing, and implementing advanced protective products for a range of clients. In this new role, you'll contribute to the development of cutting-edge protection systems used by Canada's Military, your work will directly support those who protect and serve our country.
As part of our growing Canadian team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing design processes and workflows that will enable the engineering group to efficiently release and control technical data packages, reviewing and approving drawings and engineering change documentation, and supporting initiatives for process improvement and automation.

JOB DUTIES- Administer the engineering design process and manage workflows to ensure all changes are documented, reviewed and approved.
- Facilitate the transfer of information from PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) to ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.
- Work closely with other stakeholders including other members of the quality department, production, engineering, management, and customers.
- Develop, maintain, and work towards automating configuration management tools.
- Generate project-specific Configuration Management plans.
- Generate design concepts for new and next generation products, including CAD, Material selection, defining processing parameters, tooling, and drafting to the department's standards and procedures.
- Support other areas of product design engineering, as required
- Technical support to the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams for proposed designs.
- Undertake problem solving of design and product issues to resolve functional issues as they arise throughout the development and service life cycle.
- Support Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) efforts to ensure a sustainable support solution.
- Support Operations to ensure that components and assemblies can be manufactured effectively and efficiently.
- Recognise the need for engineering change and raise engineering change requests as appropriate.

- Successful delivery of concept designs and launch of new products, on time, to cost and on schedule
- Support first off and prototype builds.
EXPERIENCEEssential- Degree or equivalent (i.e. diploma or experience) in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
- 5+ years of product design experience in a relevant industry.
- Working knowledge of military vehicles and defence industry CM requirements.
- Experience working on design and development projects, inception to launch, within an engineer to order technical environment.
- Proficient with the use of 3D CAD modelling and design software.
- Proficient with the use of PLM software.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and design standards including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, ideally to automotive / defence requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team projects.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and multi-task under pressure of deadlines.
- Proficient user of MS office software.
- Familiar with configuration control and change management processes
- Canadian citizen or valid work permit.
- Obtained or the ability to obtain Reliability security clearance.
- Experience of using AI tools or demonstrates a willingness to learn and apply AI in role.
Desirable- Ability to recommend process and workflow improvements.
- Experienced in using PTC Creo.
- Experience using Windchill PLM.
- Expertise in the structural analysis of metallic components and welded assemblies.
- Knowledge of tooling design and design for manufacturability.
- Experience using FEA software.
