Full Job Description

Within the CSG, the NASA Programs Division (NPD) supports our NASA customer in all aspects of human space flight and program office activities. This position will support the Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Program Office, in NASA’s Research and Technology Mission Directorate, providing subject matter expertise and leadership across the Program. We are looking for a Configuration Data Management Program Lead (Sr. Project Leader – Technical Project Management).

As senior technical authority for configuration and data management, this role will provide leadership in the program office and across its organizations identifying strategic needs, managing projects, supporting acquisitions, and integrating across the agency to provide successful communications and navigation for multiple programs and project.

This is a full-time position located at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. or Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL This is an onsite work model that combines 4 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Serve as the leader of a team of contributors and specialists to integrate disciplines and elements across the program
  • Lead the planning, analysis, and surveillance of SCaN policies and their functional execution and provide expertise in identification, problem solving, and resolution of program and project issues
  • Act as senior mentor to team members providing technical guidance, training, and development insight
  • Lead the configuration and implementation of the Change Management Workflow (CMW) and Meeting Hub (MH) Tools for the SCaN Program and its associated projects and offices
  • Lead CDM team in providing education and training to internal and external stakeholders on the use of SCaN CDM tools and execution of associated processes
  • Lead the development of the SCaN Program Configuration Management processes and procedures, establishing program documentation control
  • Manage change request, product review, and management directive process for the program including both internal and external reviews
  • Direct team in developing workflows to perform receipt desk function and support of CDM across the program and throughout SCaN elements
  • Perform change management and control throughout the document lifecycle, working multiple products in parallel and mentoring team members in the process
  • Establish and ensure support of control boards and panels as required for efficient and effective program operation
  • Provide CDM support of program and element reviews as necessary
  • Ensure all CDM data and records are accurate, complete, and timely archived via the established systems

What You Need to be Successful – Senior Project Leader – Technical Project Management

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • At least 10 years of experience in Configuration and Data Management
  • Knowledge of NASA CDM standards and principles
  • In-depth experience with technical editing, formatting, and other document management functions in Microsoft Word
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a team environment, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA organizations, projects, and programs
  • Exceptionally high level of initiative and creative problem solving
  • Widely recognized internally and externally by peers, management, and customers as an expert in Configuration and Data Management

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Configuration Management certification
  • 15 or more years of increasingly responsible professional Configuration Data Management experience, including in program management environments and with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Recent CDM experience with NASA organizations
  • Familiarity with product markings for proprietary data, export control, procurement, etc.
  • Ability to identify and communicate concerns to leadership in a diplomatic manner
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and virtual environments
