Project Overview:

Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far - enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.
As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.
Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.
The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide civil/concrete field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-NP1

Major Responsibilities:
• Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
• Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
• Initiates requisitions for field purchases
• Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
• Inspection of the field work to ensure that everything is correct prior to rebar and embeds are correctly located prior to placement of concrete, and that the other disciplines have confirmed their embeds are in accordance with the design.
• Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
• Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
• Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
• Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
• Reviews and approves inspection test plans,
• Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals

Education and Experience Requirements:
• Requires bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and 1-2 years of relevant experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Extensive technical knowledge and experience on all phases of concrete operations including batch plant, cast in place and precast field activities.
• Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration
• Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience
• Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
• Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.
• Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
• Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
• Fluent in written and spoken English
