Overview

The Engineer II, Control-M is responsible for the design, development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of solutions using the Control-M platform. This role blends technical expertise with analytical skills to translate business requirements into effective solutions and provide technical guidance to the development team. The Engineer I, Control-M will bridge the gaps between IT business needs and the platform. They support the gathering of requirements, analyze processes, and ensure the successful implementation of SFTP and the Concentra Digital Connectivity strategy. The individual will ensure alignment with ITIL best practices, organizational standards, and support the platform's roadmap and strategic direction.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business users to understand needs and evaluate new, unused, or not fully leveraged features and recommend for consideration in an upcoming release or inclusion in the roadmap.
  • Design, development, administration, and implementation of Control-M solutions, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with developers, administrators, and stakeholders on the use of Control-M.
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support Control-M platform administration tasks such as monitoring, upgrades, and access management.
  • Document business requirements, user stories, process flows, acceptance criteria, SOPs, training, etc.
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements for Control-M.
  • Advise on the application of Control-M on workflow and process improvements.
  • Align Control-M capabilities with ITIL and industry best practices.
  • Stay updated with the latest Control-M features, functionalities, and trends and provide recommendations for improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate and comply with governance and steering committees.
  • Involvement with system testing, QA testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and deployment.
  • Define reporting needs, key metrics, and build dashboards for business insights.
  • Monitor Control-M production health and provide dynamic notifications when needed.
  • Ensure data accuracy and compliance with business reporting standards.
  • Prepare for user training sessions to enhance adoption.


Qualifications

  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree ; Major: Computer Science
  • Experience in lieu of required education is acceptable
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Control-M job automation in a regulated enterprise environment.
  • 4+ years of Control-M administration.
  • Good understanding of Control-M components (EM, Agent, CM), advanced job types (File Watcher, SSH, AFT), and job flow design patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with PGP encryption, including managing public/private key pairs, integrating with command-line tools (e.g., GnuPG), and troubleshooting encryption issues.
  • Experience in business process analysis and workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong detailed, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
