Position SummaryWhy It's a Great Opportunity: As a Business Analyst with experience in developing and testing system integrations, process documentation and improvement, and end-user training and support, you will have a tremendous opportunity to support the Assigned Counsel team. Your work will help guide the department to ensure increased efficiency and deliver results that impact the way we do business. You will be a key factor in supporting data-driven decision making across the department, directly impacting those we serve.
Why It's a Great Department: The Department of Assigned Counsel (DAC) is responsible for the delivery of mandated legal services to indigent persons accused of crimes in the Pierce County Superior Court; Pierce County District Courts; Municipal Courts in Tacoma, Fircrest, and Ruston; and Pierce County Juvenile Court delinquency proceedings. DAC also provides constitutionally mandated legal services to indigent parents involved in Juvenile Court dependency and termination proceedings and to persons detained for involuntary civil commitment proceedings at Western State Hospital and other evaluation and treatment facilities.
The mission of the DAC is to provide and administer the public defense delivery system in Pierce County in a manner that assures eligible people receive professional and effective representation while efficiently utilizing public resources. The DAC provides professional high-quality representation to individuals in a variety of settings.
How to be Successful in the Role: We are looking for strategic thinkers experienced in business analysis principles and implementing process improvement. Someone who knows how to develop working relationships and communicate across all levels of the organization. You will bring your experience in process improvement, end-user training and support, process documentation, and troubleshooting software applications to help Assigned Counsel provide crucial services more efficiently and accurately than ever before. We need you to jump in and support current projects while learning about the department and identifying new opportunities. Business Analysts who are motivated to improve process efficiencies, can manage expectations, make strong recommendations, and then implement those recommendations will be successful in this role.
Your Future in this Role: You will have the opportunity to come in and learn the work of Assigned Counsel and ultimately help guide data-driven process improvements. Your work will inform many of the decisions of the department. Our Computer Systems Business Analyst 1 position is the first in its series, providing many growth opportunities. Core Daily Responsibilities: - Train users on new and updated software applications or processes and create user manuals or standard operating procedures.
- Assist with tracking, testing, and troubleshooting software development issues and enhancement requests.
- Coordinate project timelines.
- Test changes and enhancements to software application systems (including creating documents and test scripts, manually updating document status and tables, and testing functionality).

Qualifications - Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements.
- An associate degree in business analysis, data analytics, business information systems, IT, computer science, or related field.
- Two or more years of computer systems business analyst experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Including a substantive cover letter with the application materials is preferred.

Holidays:Some full-time employees are entitled to eleven paid holidays as follows:

Personal Holidays:Regular full-time and regular part-time employees, and employees occupying limited duration positions, shall also receive two additional paid personal holidays. Paid personal holidays shall only accrue for those employees on County payroll as of January 1 of each year or the first work day following January 1 and must be taken during the calendar year in which it was accrued.
Furlough:Some Pierce County employees may be designated to receive 10 "furlough" days per year in lieu of holidays. Furlough days are available for use on January 1 and must be scheduled and taken within the calendar year. Employees who leave employment with Pierce County must reimburse the employer for used furlough days based upon the number of remaining holidays.
Sick Leave:Sick leave accrues on a bi-weekly basis, at the rate of one day per month.
