Position SummaryThe Computer Information Systems Instructor is responsible for the planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. They will provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. The Instructor will adhere to the general faculty guidelines as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the Drake State Community and Technical College Personnel Handbook.

Salary Range $46,590 - $94,363 (9 months, Exempt)
Summer employment may be available from $14,384-$29,184
Annual Salary Range - $60,974 - $123,547
Salary step placement is based on education and experience per Drake State's practice for awarding salary step credit.Work Hours: Classes are taught day, evening, and weekends on the Huntsville campus. In addition, multiple forms of distance education are offered.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Computer Information Systems Instructor shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.
- Provide quality instruction in the area of college level Computer Information Systems, as assigned, in traditional, hybrid or online delivery formats
- Inform students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, attendance requirements, and academic progress
- Seeks continuous improvement in curriculum, instruction, and resources
- Participate fully in the institutional planning process and assist in carrying out the overall instructional mission of the College
- Report to work regularly and on-time
- Prepare and grade assignments, projects, and examinations as required
- Update the LMS with grades, assignments, DropOut Detective, etc. in timely manner
- Provide support services to students (tutoring, mentoring, academic advising, accommodation etc.) as needed
- Provide a flexible schedule to meet the needs of all stakeholders

- Assist in registration and pre-registration activities as needed
- Maintain an inventory of assigned equipment and supplies
- Serve on college committees and teams when requested
- Teach at varied times, locations, formats based on student demand, day, evening or weekend, including dual enrollment, traditional classroom, hybrid, or online
- Submit required reports to the Division Chair, Associate Dean of Instruction, or Dean of Instruction
- Inform students of educational and occupational opportunities
- Provide a proper instructional environment and maintain good human relations in the classroom and online so that learning is effective, engaging and promotes student success
- Participate in faculty and professional organizations
- Participate in recruitment, retention, and outreach activities as needed
- Recommend library books and other instructional materials
- Retain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts
- Attend all faculty meetings, College assemblies, professional development, orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Dean of Instruction, or Division Chair
- Remains actively involved in the co-curricular activities of the College
- Perform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Division Chair, Associate Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instruction, and/or the President

QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Minimum of an earned Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with eighteen (18) graduate hours in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, IT Management or equivalent industry experience for the required degree.
- Minimum of three (3) years of full-time teaching experience or three (3) years of industry related work in computer science, computer information systems, cybersecurity, systems engineering technology, management information systems or related areas or equivalent industry experience for the required degree.
- CISCO CCNA certification or the necessary preparation to obtain certifications by successfully completing the certification
- requirements within twelve (12) months of assumption of teaching duties.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Demonstrated knowledge of skills required for installing, maintaining, and supporting local area networks, including switches, routers, and hubs
- Demonstrated knowledge of C++, Swift, Python, and JAVA programming languages
- CompTIA A+ certification, Network+, Security+, cloud-based computing, AWS
- Demonstrated knowledge of active server page software development and client scripting
- Prior teaching experience
- Excellent oral, auditory, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Working knowledge of outcome-based programs and student learning methodologies
- Documented successful experience teaching and developing web-based courses
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public
