Full Job Description
Become a Components Standards, Engineer 2 for the Component Standards Engineering team at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, youll apply your technical skills and knowledge to develop and update design and construction standards that align with SCEs strategic direction in the transmission, distribution, and substation space. The standards engineering team inherently supports strategic objectives in two main functions. (1) Maintaining the standards such that SCE can efficiently design, construct, inspect, maintain, and operate SCEs existing infrastructure. (2) Incorporating new standard material that supports all of SCEs strategic roadmaps, including but not limited to public/worker safety, wildfire mitigation, reliability, pathway 2045, and climate risk. Youll also play a key role in ensuring SCEs standards are robust by and working with organizations across SCE to gain stakeholder input. Responsibilities 30;Performs inspections and evaluations of existing conditions for various electrical equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification/ trouble shooting, and overall improvements. 30;Ensures system event assessments and RCA are performed for equipment failures and implements corrective actions, confirming proper mitigation plans are in place. 30;Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and design plans related to projects and analysis of increasing scope and complexity. 30;Conducts independent engineering work, receiving guidance on the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. 30;Performs power system modeling and analyses utilizing software tools and applications; stays informed of technology advancements, market trends, and relevant guidelines and standards related to energy technology. 30;Ensures the performance of day-to-day preventive maintenance activities to maintain equipment and ensure continued operation according to required standards including Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) quality and environmental and reliability standards. 30;Helps ensure infrastructures supporting processes are validated/qualified throughout their life cycle. 30;Develops the engineering facility design, including but not limited to electrical system design, such as sizing, creating one-line diagrams, and selecting equipment. 30;Assists in the development of new technology and standards strategy and the implementation of strategies into business operations to improve power system functionality and quality of service to customers. 30;Acts as project sponsors with some technical assistance when responding to technical questions requiring project modification to move projects through their lifecycle. 30;A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications 30;Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Bachelors Degree in a scientific/technical/math field. 30;Two or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments. 30;Possess a valid Class C Drivers License. Preferred Qualifications 30;Experience as an engineer in an electric utility 30;Strong knowledge of distribution, transmission or substation systems 30;Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences 30;Makes informed decisions, is results-oriented, team-oriented, and stays current with relevant technology and innovation. 30;Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively and collaborate with internal customers, peers, and senior management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in Additional Information 30;This positions work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
