Full Job Description
The Component Engineer is responsible for overall component specification, selection and documentation. Assists Supply Chain in identifying alternate parts. Also manages parts obsolescence for production thereby ensuring supply.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and select components per requirements, verify long lead delivery concerns, and End of Life projections to support Production plans; requires close coordination with Engineering, Supply Chain and Program Management
- Identify available alternate parts and present the information to the customer for approval
- Assist Production when parts arrive not as expected; determine if parts can be used or if a risk mitigation plan is necessary
- Provide proactive obsolescence management (life cycle component management) by monitoring parts availability and communicating concerns and proposed solutions to allow for appropriate planning
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years of electronics manufacturing experience with circuit card assemblies and box builds
- Knowledge of electrical parts and semiconductors and their processes
- Ability to interpret customer drawings and applications
- Certified IPC-A-610 & J-STD-001 or ability to obtain certification
- Knowledge of counterfeit mitigation practices
- Ability to interact effectively with teammates and suppliers
- Proactive problem solver
- Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills required
- Ability to obtain a Government granted security clearance, if necessary
