The Component Engineer is responsible for overall component specification, selection and documentation. Assists Supply Chain in identifying alternate parts. Also manages parts obsolescence for production thereby ensuring supply. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Identify and select components per requirements, verify long lead delivery concerns, and End of Life projections to support Production plans; requires close coordination with Engineering, Supply Chain and Program Management - Identify available alternate parts and present the information to the customer for approval - Assist Production when parts arrive not as expected; determine if parts can be used or if a risk mitigation plan is necessary - Provide proactive obsolescence management (life cycle component management) by monitoring parts availability and communicating concerns and proposed solutions to allow for appropriate planning REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience - Minimum 3 years of electronics manufacturing experience with circuit card assemblies and box builds - Knowledge of electrical parts and semiconductors and their processes - Ability to interpret customer drawings and applications - Certified IPC-A-610 & J-STD-001 or ability to obtain certification - Knowledge of counterfeit mitigation practices - Ability to interact effectively with teammates and suppliers - Proactive problem solver - Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills required - Ability to obtain a Government granted security clearance, if necessary
