Position Summary: The Office of Food and Nutrition Services (OFNS) employs a workforce of over 8,000 employees in 1,600 locations to prepare and serve New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) students over 150 million meals annually. To carry out this work OFNS annually uses +$300M of equipment, food, supplies and services purchased under contract, and $40M+ of federally supplied food commodities.
In addition to day-to-day operations, OFNS is working on several initiatives that will add overall value to work performed and support high level Chancellor and Mayoral initiatives.
The Compliance Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting OFNS's mission to serve students , families, and school communities by ensuring programs operate with integrity, safety, and accountability. The position oversees compliance for OFNS's reimbursable programs and operational functions, guiding a team that works closely with schools, vendors, and program partners to promote consistent, community centered adherence to regulatory standards. The position designs and delivers training that empowers staff and partners; collaborates with leadership to reinforce strong internal controls; and ensures prompt, effective follow through on corrective action plans.
Responsibilities also include engaging directly with school sites and vendors to support safe, equitable, and compliant food service operations, food safety protocols, and reporting practices uphold the well-being of students and the broader community. Performs related work.

Direct Reports: Coordinators and support staff
Key Relationships: Administration, operations teams, regional staff, vendors and quality control staff.
Responsibilities - Lead a team responsible for monitoring adherence to federal, state, local, and departmental requirements, with an emphasis on ensuring safe, reliable access to nutritious meals for students and communities.
- Design and deliver engaging, accessible compliance trainings that empower staff, vendors, and school partners to confidently meet regulatory and policy requirements.
- Conduct supportive site visits to schools to assess compliance, provide coaching, and elevate needs or challenges that impact students and staff.
- Oversee compliance for reimbursable programs and operational functions, ensuring that processes support consistent, community-friendly service delivery.
- Develop and manage risk-based monitoring plans that prioritize areas with the greatest impact on student well -being, food safety, and equitable access.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with schools, program teams, and community partners to promote understanding of compliance expectations and shared responsibility for safe, equitable food service.
- Review documentation and reporting to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with community-focused operational goals.
- Prepare clear reports that communicate risks, strengths, and progress in ways that support informed decision-making and reflect OFNS's commitment to community well-being.
- Communicate compliance insights in leadership in a manner that supports equitable, student-centered operations across programs.
Qualification Requirements Minimum A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in "1" above. Preferred - Excellent spoken and presentation skills , including the ability to explain procedural concepts for non-technical audiences .
- Familiarity with child nutrition program requirements and operational environments (school food service, public sector, health/food safety, logistics).
- Excellent communication, writing, interpersonal, and relationship building skills .
Salary : $82,000 - $90,200
(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
