Full Job Description
What will you contribute?

You will join Finastra's Product Legal team-an internal group of attorneys and compliance professionals responsible for anticipating, interpreting, and operationalizing regulatory change across Finastra software products. The team monitors evolving legal and regulatory requirements, translates those requirements into clear product guidance, and partners with product, engineering, and leadership teams to embed compliance into product design and delivery.

In this role, you will help make legal complexity actionable and understandable for internal stakeholders and, ultimately, for Finastra's financial institution customers. Your work will directly influence how compliant functionality is delivered to market, supporting product managers, engineers, and leadership primarily within Finastra's Lending Business Unit, and across the organization as needed.

You will report to the Senior Director of Product Legal and will work at the intersection of regulatory compliance, product functionality, and risk management. This position is well suited for an attorney who is highly interested in applying regulatory analysis in a product development environment.

Responsibilities & Deliverables:

Your deliverables will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Proactively monitoring U.S. Federal and state legal and regulatory developments and identifying potential impacts on Finastra software products.
  • Engaging and coordinating with outside legal counsel in numerous U.S. states regarding state and federal laws, regulations and cases relevant to product compliance.
  • Translating regulatory and legal changes into clear, actionable guidance for product managers and product leadership.
  • Assessing the compliance-related legal risk associated with product enhancements and defects, , and advising on appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Partnering with cross-functional stakeholders - including product management, engineering, release management and others - throughout the software change management lifecycle to support ongoing product compliance.
  • Authoring and collaborating on legal and product requirements to drive compliance into Finastra software products.
  • Reviewing and authoring customer-facing information regarding various regulatory compliance and product function issues.
  • Creating and delivering clear, effective internal and external presentations on legal and regulatory issues impacting Finastra software products and our financial institutions customers.


Required Experience:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school and an active bar admission in any U.S. state.
  • Proven legal experience, including researching, interpreting, and applying U.S. federal and state statutes and regulations related to U.S. financial institutions; relevant global regulatory experience is a plus.
  • Experience in banking, lending, or fintech is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze regulatory requirements with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, while maintaining a strategic, risk-based perspective.
  • Proficient using legal research software (e.g., Lexis) and strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications and virtual meeting technologies (e.g.. Teams).
  • Proven ability communicating complex legal concepts clearly and practically to non-legal audiences, particularly product managers, engineers, and product leadership.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with experience presenting to both small groups and larger audiences.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently when required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, outside counsel, and others in a professional and constructive manner.
