We're actively seeking a talented Compensation Analyst II to join our HR Compensation team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, Nebraska (hybrid work schedule).

As a Compensation Analyst II, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by support the successful administration and execution of the Company's compensation programs by maintaining compensation and job architecture data, administering Workday compensation processes, supporting annual compensation activities, and ensuring data integrity, compliance, and operational excellence. Deliver reporting, analytics, market data support, and project execution that enable informed compensation decisions, drive process improvements, and support key compensation initiatives, including Workday optimization and job architecture enhancements.

This role is on-site 4 days per week and work from home 1 day per week in Newport Beach, CA, Omaha, NE, or Charlotte, NC.

How you will make an impact:

Compensation Operations & Administration
  • Administer compensation-related processes and transactions within Workday, including compensation changes, one-time payments, incentive payments, and employee updates.
  • Maintain compensation and job architecture data through the creation, update, and validation of job profiles, job attributes, and compensation eligibility rules.
  • Support the annual compensation planning process through system administration, testing, audits, troubleshooting, and data validation activities.
  • Monitor and respond to compensation-related Workday inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of issues.
  • Perform ongoing audits of compensation and job data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and data integrity.
  • Partner with Payroll, People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and other stakeholders to ensure compensation programs are administered consistently and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain compensation process documentation and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation and process enhancements.


Reporting, Analytics & Compliance
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc compensation reports, analyses, and workforce data to support Compensation, HR, and business stakeholders.
  • Conduct data audits, reconciliations, and compliance reviews to support compensation governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Support compensation-related analyses by gathering, validating, and organizing internal and external compensation data.
  • Assist in the preparation of reporting and materials used to support compensation planning, program administration, and leadership decision-making.
  • Support compliance activities, including FLSA reviews, compensation audits, policy adherence, and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor compensation data trends and identify discrepancies requiring review or corrective action.

Salary Surveys & Market Data Support
  • Support participation in compensation surveys through data collection, validation, submission, and documentation activities.
  • Maintain compensation survey records, supporting data, and market pricing resources.
  • Assist in the preparation of market data reports and benchmarking analyses used to support compensation programs and decision-making.
  • Partner with Compensation team members to ensure market data is accurately reflected within compensation systems, structures, and reporting tools.


Compensation Programs & Projects
  • Support compensation programs, structures, and system configurations are accurately administered and maintained.
  • Support implementation activities associated with compensation initiatives, job architecture enhancements, and Workday optimization projects.


The experience you will bring:
  • BS/BA in Business. Specialization in Human Resource Management, Finance, or related experience is preferred.
  • Three (3) years of cumulative experience as a Compensation Specialist.
  • Ability to partner with business leadership and collaborate with multiple stakeholders within the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices and labor legislation.
  • Exceptional customer service and verbal/written communication.
  • Comfort making compensation adjustment recommendations based on market data analysis.
  • Ability to work with large datasets to extract meaningful insights.
  • Ability to self-direct and exercise sound independent judgement within established guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle compensation-related issues with discretion.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely document compensation processes and procedures.


What will make you stand out:
  • Demonstrated compensation experience within a multi-faceted insurance and/or financial services company.
  • Workday or other HCM platform experience.
  • Strength in developing executive presentation materials and storytelling as part of communication and stakeholder management.
  • Professional certifications (PHR, CCP).
  • Demonstrated practice of leveraging various tools and resources to stay up to date on industry trends, changes in regulations, and emerging best practices in compensation.


Salary Ranges per Location:
  • Charlotte, NC: $77, 130 - $94, 270
  • Newport Beach, CA: $84, 870 - $103, 730
  • Omaha, NE: $73, 260 - $89, 540


Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
