Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible administrative experience
• At least 5 years of supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of California land use planning, CEQA, and historic preservation
• Experience in coastal planning is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Community Planning & Building Department
• Develop and implement city planning policies and building regulations
• Oversee staff and budget management
• Ensure compliance with land use regulations and CEQA
• Foster community engagement in the planning process
• Coordinate with other governmental agencies and stakeholders
• Provide strategic guidance to the city administration regarding planning initiatives
