Description & Requirements

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career, and customer-oriented Communications Specialist to join our team in Springfield, VA.

In this role, you will support leadership by researching, writing, and developing a broad range of written, spoken, and digital communications designed to inform, engage, and influence stakeholders across global missions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies and proactive marketing approaches.
  • Identify and solicit potential users and stakeholder groups to improve communications processes and delivery channels.
  • Provide recommendations for message development, communication channel selection, and release timing.
  • Research, write, edit, and publish high-quality communications products, including print, web, electronic media, and briefings.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, and multimedia staff to produce engaging publications.
  • Prepare materials for internal publication, manage production schedules, and implement innovative communication methods.
  • Support senior leadership by drafting speeches, talking points, video scripts, briefings, communication plans, and published articles.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelors degree with 7+ years of experience in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related OR 14+ years of experience in lieu of a college degree.
  • Basic understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) concepts and structure.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, presentation skills and experience with MS Office applications.
  • Experience with graphic design tools and techniques


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism (Master's degree preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with graphic design tools and visual media techniques.
  • Prior experience supporting defense or intelligence community missions.


Clearance Requirements:
  • An active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain/maintain a polygraph.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier, scanner, and computer printer.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and stakeholders, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.


The projected compensation range for this position is $75,500.00-$125,600.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
