Job Description:

Caterpillar's Digital Technology & Distribution (DT&D) communications team is looking for a Communications Specialist to help expand the visibility of its Digital and Technology leadership initiatives and innovations by supporting strategic external engagement opportunities.

In this role, you will also serve as a central point of coordination for external engagement requests across Cat Digital and Cat Technology, helping manage intake, stakeholder reviews, approvals and tracking processes that support consistent, efficient decision-making and execution. You will also maintain a messaging hub for current and consistent communications.

Additionally, you will help identify and support external activities that elevate the visibility of the Chief Digital Officer and the Chief Technology Officer, such as awards, external speaking, and media opportunities. You will partner closely with Public Affairs, Division Communications Managers and other stakeholders to identify, research, evaluate and coordinate approvals for opportunities that align with business objectives and enterprise priorities.

What you will do:

External Engagement Coordination
  • Manage timelines, stakeholder reviews and approval workflows across multiple functions.
  • Partner with Communications Managers, Public Affairs, Legal, Brand and business stakeholders to ensure readiness for external engagements.
  • Maintain documentation and tracking related to external participation, approvals and deliverables.
  • Support reporting and measurement activities to help assess the impact and effectiveness of executive visibility efforts.
  • Own the process and usher inbound requests from Digital and Technology team members from initial submission to execution.


Assist with New Opportunities and Messaging Alignment
  • Create and maintain a messaging library spanning Digital and Technology to ensure consistency and alignment with Enterprise Narrative.
  • Research and identify external engagement opportunities that align with DT&D priorities and leadership objectives.
  • Monitor industry trends, conferences, speaking opportunities, awards programs, podcasts and other forums to identify opportunities for consideration.
  • Evaluate and summarize opportunities, including audience relevance, strategic fit and business value.
  • Prepare recommendations and supporting information for review by Communications Managers, Public Affairs and senior leaders.
  • Maintain executive visibility calendars, trackers and planning tools to support proactive opportunity management.


Stakeholder Partnership
  • Build strong working relationships across DT&D Communications, Public Affairs and enterprise partners.
  • Serve as a key point of coordination among stakeholders supporting executive visibility activities.
  • Help ensure external opportunities are aligned with business priorities, enterprise standards and communication objectives.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as needed.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across functions and build productive relationships with a wide range of partners. Comfortable coordinating work across multiple teams and navigating competing priorities.
  • Initiative: Self-starter with a proactive mindset and strong attention to detail. Demonstrates sound judgment, ownership and follow-through.
  • Digital & Technology Curiosity: Interest in digital technology, innovation and emerging industry trends. Ability to build familiarity with DT&D's business, strategy and leadership priorities.

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
