Overview

LMI seeks a Military Health (MH) Communications Lead to support federal program management office in Northern Virginia. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our VA client evaluate program effectiveness of mental health and suicide prevention programs. The MH Communications Lead develops and executes outreach and promotion of initiatives by contributing to the planning, development, and implementation of marketing and advertising strategies and communications activities. The role involves development of communications and products to support major DoW initiatives, coordinates with cross-functional teams, and contributes to team and client efficiencies.

 

This position can be supported remotely, but preference is to be located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area or San Antonio, Texas.

 

Responsibilities

The MH Communications Lead plays a pivotal role in connecting high-level business strategy with seamless operational execution. They are responsible for creating thoughtful and engaging content to promote identified DoW priorities within budget and aligned with the organization’s goals to include but not limited to related website development and posts, social media, events (in-person and virtual), articles, press releases, e-mail campaigns, and advertisements. This role requires strong leadership, analytical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration skills to drive successful implementation of large-scale projects and improve overall business performance.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop propose, develop, and implement marketing, advertising, and educational materials across print, online, social media, events, briefings, etc
  • Ensure products and materials align with the company’s vision, goals, and priorities
  • Collaborate with teams across Human Centered Design, User Interface/User Experience, Information Technology, product development, clinical operations, and others to coordinate efforts and align on project goals and client priorities
  • Develop webinars and other virtual events as needed
  • Create and managing e-mail campaigns
  • Contribute to the development of promotional products and materials, including print, digital, and special projects, such as the event booth and website redesign
  • Create compelling content, messaging, and stories
  • Managing DoW spotlights for the website, social media, events, and articles
  • Manage the review and approval process for marketing materials, including working with various stakeholders
  • Prepare monthly reports on activities and results of marketing and advertising initiatives
  • Participate in outreach events, such as exhibiting at conferences and staffing information sessions
  • Manage stakeholder expectations by maintaining consistent communication and troubleshooting issues promptly
  • Coordinate rollouts of new products and materials
  • Facilitate training sessions and monitor employee adoption to ensure successful implementation
  • Collect and analyze feedback to refine products, materials and related processes and support continuous improvement
  • Robust stakeholder management to align departments and foster collaboration
  • Additional duties' as assigned 
Qualifications
  • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing required with 8 or more years of professional experience in Military Health strategic communications, public relations, corporate communications, or a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience using Military Health communication platforms such as email marketing software, intranet systems, or DHA-specific platforms.
  • Strong background in preparing executive-level briefings, white papers, and Reports to Congress for General Officers and Senior Executive Service (SES) leaders.
  • Excellent English verbal, presentation, writing and editing skills with familiarity in design tools such as Figma to support visually engaging materials with ability to adapt communication styles and tone to suit diverse audiences and platforms effectively.
  • Skilled in aligning communication goals with overarching business objectives, proactively identifying opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Ability to utilize best practices and implementation strategies to optimize communications for client projects and stakeholders.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies that drive successful project outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), collaboration platforms (SharePoint, ServiceNow, Jira/Confluence), and modeling tools (Visio, Power BI, Excel).
  • Collaborate closely with project leadership to identify and resolve project-related issues efficiently and recommend approaches to execute project deliverables effectively.
  • Proven ability to operate autonomously in fast-paced or complex environments, demonstrating adaptability and resilience under pressure.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall project objectives and team success.
  • A flexible mindset to navigate changing priorities, industries, and technologies
  • Travel: Less than 20%

Target Salary Range: $80,000-$108,000
