Responsibilities

Position Purpose:

Reporting directly to the Director External Affairs (NY), the Communications & Conservation Program Manager will develop, administer, and evaluate Veolia's water conservation program, and all associated communications, strategic partnerships and outreach, across the New York Utility Division. S/he will educate customers and employees on Veolia programs and the benefits of conservation and natural resource management, while seeking to enhancing customer satisfaction and brand image.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

The Communications and Conservation Program Manager helps develop and implements strategic, comprehensive and professional communications and community programs that educate customers, community groups, employees and other key stakeholders about Veolia's programs and the benefits of water conservation.
  • Educate customers, employees and key stakeholders on the company's programs and initiatives with emphasis on the environmental and financial benefits of water conservation. Drive customer and employee engagement in support of Veolia's core purpose and local operational goals.
  • Develop Customer First educational and promotional content for all of the company's digital and traditional communications channels, including web, social, e-mail, bill inserts, etc.
  • Serve as the company's key conservation subject matter expert. Promote the company's conservation programs through speaking engagements, customer communications and community.
  • Raise brand perception and satisfaction levels with customers, regulators, NGOs, elected officials and other key stakeholders.
  • Fulfill all requirements of the New York Public Service Commission-mandated conservation program and find opportunities to evolve the program.
  • Develop and implement programs for targeted stakeholder groups, including schools, NGOs, trade groups and customer groups.
  • Analyze customer research data and adjust plans and programs accordingly.
  • Under the direction of Vice President, Communications, support Veolia's outreach programs aimed at elevating customer satisfaction, employee engagement and stakeholder relations.
  • Lend expertise in developing conservation programs to other Veolia divisions.
  • Key Focus Areas:
    • Customer Communications
      • Apply a Customer First approach to educational and promotional content.
      • Utilize an omni-channeled approach to satisfy customer preferences that includes digital and traditional communications channels.
    • New York Conservation Program
      • Manage and fulfill the PSC-mandated conservation program.
      • Seek opportunities to expand and evolve the program.
    • Community Relations
      • Build in-roads with local community groups/NGOs and schools.
      • Initiate programming for targeted groups.
      • Represent the company at community events where appropriate.
    • Public and Media Relations
      • Promote the company's programs through public speaking engagements, industry articles, white papers, and award recognition.
      • Develop compelling stories and generate leads that cultivate journalists' interest in the company's programs. Convert meaningful conversations to earned placement.
      • Develop social media and digital content that champions the brand and supports local business strategies and goals.
  • Other activities as deemed appropriate.


Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent is required. Minor/experience in Environmental Sciences a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to construct educational content, call-to-action marketing and compelling stories.
  • Must possess digital media experience, including photo and video skills. Graphic design skills are a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of traditional and digital communications, strategy and tactics, with strong emphasis on visual, web and social content.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with customers, NGOs, regulators and other key stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Power Point, Teams and Excel.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Efficiency in budget management.
  • Ability to work with and engage management and employees of all levels.
  • Must be available for weekend and evening activities, as needed.


Additional Information

Pay Range: $100,000 to $110,000 Per Year.
