Position Summary

The Commissioning Specialist is primarily responsible for mechanical and electrical system startup as well as remote contractor and owner support. System equipment and process startup consists of providing a full range of product support to customers in the field on job sites and remotely over the phone or computer. The position reports to the Senior Engineering Manager of EnviroMix and works closely with various team members including project managers, project engineers, controls engineers, and process engineers. The right candidate will be able to communicate clearly and professionally with contractors, other equipment manufacturers and consulting engineers on a job site to coordinate startup, testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution. The position requires working knowledge of the EnviroMix product lines, mechanical equipment, and control systems. This position also requires the ability to process and address challenges encountered during inspection, commissioning, and testing of fabricated piping systems, mechanical equipment, and instrumentation including electrical and I/O checkouts.

System Support Responsibilities (in the field)
  • Travel to new or existing installations for: Assess and resolve process, instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical issues in the field
  • Identify, coordinate, and engage with other functional teams remote and in the field to complete assignments
  • Provide system training to plant operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Provide written and verbal summaries of work activities to customer and internal team.
  • Possess strong verbal communication skills to convey technical requirements, align multiple trades, document field findings, resolve conflict and maintain safe, efficient project execution
  • Ensure all commissioning tasks are completed on time and on budget while upholding the highest quality along with meeting customer technical requirements
  • Develop positive relationships with owners by providing clear communication, equipment training and technical support.


System Support Responsibilities (in the office)
  • Support project managers and project engineers in responding to contractor questions, owner issues, aftermarket sales requests, and other in office field support tasks.
  • Support product development and improvement initiatives and share lessons learned in the field to assist in product improvement
  • Work with sales territory manager, project manager and project engineer in the creation and customization of water/wastewater products and systems
  • Ensure all contractor and customer product support questions and issues are addressed correctly and promptly meeting customer technical requirements
  • Participate in writing, reviewing, and editing instruction manuals for process controls and automation systems


The position requires excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to take initiative to find solutions while working with diverse external groups and internally across departments and teams.

Position Requirements

Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of experience in wastewater, water treatment, industrial process systems, automation, or related industries
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude to inspect, check and commission equipment, instrumentation, and controls
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel 70% domestically during work week.
  • Ability to assess and respond to issues as they arise

Preferred Skills:
  • BS or MS in Engineering: Civil, Chemical, Environmental, Electrical or Mechanical
  • Experience with process equipment, instrumentation, and controls
  • Knowledge of the water or wastewater equipment product lines or closely related products
  • Experience with wastewater treatment plant design
  • Experience with water treatment plant design
  • Experience 2D and 3D CAD design
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills


The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $115,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
