Commissioning Project Manager
Location: Project-Based
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: Up to 50% Travel Required

Position Overview
As a Commissioning Project Manager, you will lead commissioning planning, execution, and turnover activities for mission-critical infrastructure projects. You will coordinate commissioning engineers, construction teams, trade partners, vendors, consultants, and owners to ensure complex electrical, mechanical, controls, and life-safety systems are tested, validated, and ready for operation. This role requires a strong technical background and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders while ensuring commissioning deliverables align with project requirements, schedule milestones, and operational objectives. Success requires exceptional organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead commissioning planning and execution efforts for data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities between engineering teams, construction personnel, trade partners, vendors, commissioning agents, and customers.
  • Develop and manage commissioning schedules, readiness assessments, test procedures, and turnover milestones.
  • Oversee functional testing, integrated systems testing, commissioning documentation, and issue resolution processes.
  • Identify commissioning risks, technical challenges, and schedule impacts while developing practical corrective actions.
  • Support final turnover activities and ensure systems are delivered in accordance with project requirements and owner expectations.

What You'll Do
  • Manage commissioning programs supporting hyperscale data centers and mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, startup, and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review commissioning plans, technical documentation, test scripts, startup procedures, and turnover packages.
  • Track commissioning readiness, system completion, punch list activities, and project handover requirements.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and technical reviews to maintain alignment across all project teams.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource to customers and project teams throughout startup, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.

What It Takes
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field and 5+ years of commissioning, engineering, construction, startup, or project management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, turnover, or operational readiness programs for mission-critical, industrial, utility, healthcare, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or data center projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, mechanical systems, controls, life-safety systems, and integrated facility operations.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and executing commissioning plans, test procedures, startup checklists, and turnover documentation.
  • Knowledge of commissioning processes, system validation, integrated systems testing, and issue management practices.
  • Experience coordinating owners, design consultants, contractors, vendors, and commissioning agents throughout project execution.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with project management and commissioning software platforms, including Procore or similar systems preferred.
  • Commissioning certifications, Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, mission-critical experience, or data center commissioning experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and support onsite project assignments as required.
