This position would be part of the regional leadership and play a key role in guiding and growing a dynamic team of building consultants. This person will primarily be responsible for the following programs and projects:
- Existing Building Commissioning (Re/Retro Cx)
- New Construction Commissioning
- Measurement & Verification (M&V)
- Active Energy Management - Our Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx) and Data Analytics program
In this role you will lead South technical staff inthree key areas:Project Planning & Delivery You will serve as a technical leader with a focus on the programs listed above. You will provide technical support and guidance on a wide variety of projects in the areas of energy efficiency and commissioning. Working alongside project managers, you will determine the project approach and staffing required to produce high quality deliverables. Serving as a direct project participant or in an oversight QA/QC role, you will drive excellence in project delivery to ensure customer satisfaction while maintaining financial targets.
Additionally, you will serve as a key point of contact for McKinstry's Business Development team for energy and commissioning-related sales pursuits, supporting the technical response and budget development for new opportunities.
Technical Leadership and ExpertiseYou will serve as a technical leader in energy efficiency and commissioning. You will be the go-to person for quality control and quality assurance for the programs outlined above. This role will include reviewing and optimizing our internal processes and tools to increase efficiency and quality of work.
Both through in-office conversations and in-field project work, you will train junior engineers in technical concepts such as HVAC system design and operation, developing and executing functional performance tests (FPTs), identifying energy conservation measures, and developing energy savings calculations.
People Management You will manage and mentor a team of high-performing engineering professionals. People management includes frequent 1-on-1 meetings with direct reports, annual goal setting, performance reviews, and career development planning, as well as general guidance and mentoring.
Within the program manager role, you will also review team staffing needs and help identify gaps in the team's capabilities. You will support hiring efforts and develop project staffing plans.
What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry- Engineering Degree or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of relevant experience required.
- Highly proficient in HVAC system operation and building energy analysis
- Experience leading commissioning projects in existing and/or new buildings.
- Experience navigating a building automation system (BAS) and analyzing trend data
- Ability to perform and review energy calculations.
- Ability to read and understand construction documents (drawings, controls sequences, specifications, etc.).
- Proficient in Communication/Teaming/Internal and External Interactions.
- Experience in people management preferred.
- Knowledge and proficiency in BCxA commissioning procedures preferred.
- PE license is preferred. BCxA, CCP, or ACG CxA certification is preferred. CEM is preferred.

The pay range for this position is $102,780 - $171,400 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
