Full Job Description
Commissioning Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you'll help improve the performance of multifamily and commercial buildings throughout the Northeast by ensuring mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems operate as intended.

Working alongside experienced building science professionals, you'll collaborate with developers, architects, contractors, and owners on projects that advance energy efficiency, electrification, and high-performance building design. Whether you're performing functional testing, troubleshooting HVAC systems, or supporting measurement and verification (M&V) efforts, your work will directly contribute to better-performing buildings and more sustainable communities.

Key Tasks:
  • Lead commissioning activities on multifamily and institutional building projects.
  • Perform functional testing, troubleshooting, and verification of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, control, and other building systems.
  • Review construction documents, submittals, and system designs to verify project requirements.
  • Develop commissioning plans, test procedures, reports, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, owners, and project teams throughout design, construction, and occupancy.
  • Identify, document, and help resolve system deficiencies.
  • Support measurement and verification (M&V) projects through data collection planning, field coordination, analysis, and reporting.
  • Review technical work for quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Assist with proposal development and technical responses for new projects.
  • Stay current with emerging building technologies, energy codes, commissioning standards, and industry best practices.


What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or another engineering discipline.
  • Mechanical Engineering background strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in commissioning, HVAC design, mechanical consulting, building systems, controls, or related engineering work.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, controls, and overall building system operation.
  • Experience working on New York State projects, including NYSERDA, LEED, energy code compliance, existing building commissioning, or similar programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Existing Building Commissioning Professional (EBCP)
  • Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP)
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Experience with measurement and verification (M&V)
  • Experience with multifamily buildings or existing building retrofits
  • Familiarity with building performance software and diagnostic tools
