Description

McClure Engineering is currently seeking a Commissioning Engineer to work alongside other talented engineers dedicated to engineering excellence on a wide range of projects involving mechanical, electrical, and automation systems for complex facilities including hospitals, laboratories, and universities. The ideal candidate shall possess and be comfortable with collaboration with other disciplines and team members assigned to their projects as well as continued learning to ensure the best engineering solutions are provided. Be self-motivated and proactive on projects with limited supervision. Critical thinking and clear communication are paramount. Experience with straightforward and productive communication with contractors and owners is required. The McClure team takes pride in the depth and breadth of knowledge on its bench and believes engineering excellence is driven by the fundamentals of math and science along with the intuition about all things mechanical/electrical.

Manage and execute commissioning projects on new construction and within existing buildings to include the following tasks:
• Complete all aspects of commissioning of mechanical systems including hydronic systems, air distribution systems, and building automation system
• Perform all aspects of commissioning of electrical systems including emergency power and lighting control systems
• Carry out commissioning design reviews
• Finalize commissioning submittal reviews
• Create commissioning forms, specifications, and plans
• Successfully interpret contract documents (i.e., drawings and specifications)
• Understand MEP building systems and controls sequences of operation
• Develop, execute, and document pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems test procedures
• Track and report commissioning issues throughout the project
• Build and assemble final commissioning reports
• Operate safely in a construction atmosphere performing commissioning operations
• Function as lead on commissioning projects
• Be responsible for commissioning communications and updates
• Conduct project management oversight including schedule review, budget controls and documentation
• Maintain strong client relationships

Requirements
• B.S.E.E. or B.S.M.E. from an accredited university
• 5+ years of direct commissioning or related experience in a variety of facility systems and subsystems including controls, mechanical, electrical, life safety, and building envelope systems
• Understanding of ASHRAE and other commissioning industry standards; Active Member (participant) of ASHRAE or other industry organization preferred
• Understanding of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) process for New Construction and Existing Buildings, LEED Accredited Professional is preferred
• Background in operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment and control systems.
• Experience with analytics software, including SkySpark, preferred
• Demonstrates strong communication, supervisory, and organizational skills by effectively collaborating with clients, customers, contractors and peers on technical and project-related matters, and contributing as a valuable member of multidisciplinary teams
• Strong computer skills including operation of automation systems (JCI, ALC, Trane, EcoStructure, Siemens, etc), proficiency within the MS Office suite, and comfortability in learning new applications with minimal instruction
• Familiarity and experience with test equipment including temperature measurement, pressure measurement, flowmeters, IR cameras, data loggers, electrical multimeters, and other related tools
• Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night work
• Must be available for out-of-town travel for a few days at a time
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Valid Driver's License with clean driving record

Work Environment:
• Primarily indoors at firms' facility, with approximately 10% of time spent indoors/outdoors at project or construction sites where hard-hat and other safety gear is often required (PPE is provided by firm)
• While performing field work associated with this position the employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, carry and/or climb ladders of varying heights
