The
Commercial Director, USCA is a Senior Commercial Leadership role accountable for shaping and executing the growth agenda for
PPG's Protective & Marine Coatings business across the
United States and Canada. This leader will set the commercial strategy, translate market opportunities into winning growth plans, and lead a large, multi-functional commercial organization spanning national accounts, direct sales, distribution development, and technical service. The role requires a strategic, enterprise-minded executive who can build high-performing teams, deepen executive-level customer partnerships, drive profitable growth, and navigate a complex, competitive industrial coatings market.
Key Responsibilities:- Own the USCA commercial strategy and execution roadmap, including revenue growth, margin expansion, channel effectiveness, customer retention, and market share improvement.
- Lead and develop a geographically dispersed commercial organization, including Zone Directors, National Account leaders, and Technical Service teams, with indirect leadership of 50+ sales and technical professionals.
- Serve as a visible senior commercial leader with key customers and industry partners, building executive-level relationships that strengthen PPG's position in priority segments.
- Translate market trends, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and portfolio capabilities into actionable account, and channel strategies.
- Partner across business unit leadership, product management, operations, finance, marketing, technical, and supply chain teams to align commercial priorities and remove barriers to growth.
- Establish clear performance expectations, operating rhythms, pipeline discipline, pricing alignment, and sales effectiveness practices across the USCA organization.
- Manage annual sales plans and operating budgets, ensuring disciplined resource allocation and measurable progress against growth, profitability, and customer experience objectives.
- Build succession depth by attracting, developing, and retaining diverse commercial talent capable of leading in a complex technical selling environment.
- Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or executive commercial leadership development preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive commercial, sales, channel, or general management leadership experience, including significant responsibility for a regional or national commercial organization.
- Demonstrated success leading leaders, managing large field-based teams, and delivering growth in a complex B2B, industrial, technical, or specification-driven environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience driving revenue growth, margin improvement, strategic account development, pricing discipline, channel optimization, and sales productivity.
- Executive presence and credibility with senior customers, distributors, internal leadership, and cross-functional partners.
- Ability to navigate legal, regulatory, safety, compliance, and customer requirements that affect the sale and use of Protective & Marine Coatings products.
