Full Job Description
As Discord's advertising business grows alongside that community, protecting user trust and brand safety is central to that growth story. You'll join the Product Policy team's Commercial Policy function, partnering closely with Legal, Revenue, Product, Engineering, and Enforcement teams to build the frameworks that let Discord's ads business scale responsibly. This is a foundational, high-visibility role: you'll independently own policy strategy for Brand Safety and Anti-Malware, working directly with advertisers, industry vendors, and internal product teams to keep the platform safe as it grows. This person will report to the Senior Manager, Commercial Policy.

Please note: this role involves regular exposure to potentially disturbing content, including violence, hate speech, and other harmful material.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Develop and evolve Discord's Brand Safety, Suitability, and anti-malvertising policies for the ads business, partnering with Legal to ensure global compliance and using AI/data analytics to spot emerging commercial risks
  • Build deep knowledge of Discord's revenue strategy and commercial infrastructure, translating complex policy requirements into actionable guidance for Sales and Product teams
  • Partner directly with Discord Advertising customers, Marketing, and Business Development to define partner requirements
  • Guide Revenue product teams throughout the development lifecycle, partnering with Legal on risk and mitigation strategies for features in your portfolio
  • Partner with Product and Engineering on detection infrastructure and enforcement scaling, and with Trust & Safety to ensure policies are enforceable at scale
  • Represent Discord's commercial policy approach with industry groups and partners, and support Sales and Account Management with policy guidance (e.g. TAG, IAB)
  • Develop user-facing communications (Help Center, blog posts, 1-sheets) explaining Discord's commercial policies, and stay current on brand safety/anti-malware/digital advertising best practices

What you should have
  • 5+ years of experience in advertising policy, marketplace quality/operations, trust & safety, or brand safety roles within technology companies, with proven expertise in at least two of: digital advertising, Brand Safety and Suitability, or anti-malware strategy
  • Deep understanding of programmatic and digital advertising ecosystems, including experience with major Brand Safety/Suitability and anti-malvertising vendors (e.g., DoubleVerify, IAS, HUMAN, Jounce, DeepSee, GeoEdge or similar)
  • Experience addressing large-scale malvertising schemes, with a clear understanding of the incentive structures behind them
  • Experience using AI/LLM tools in day-to-day projects and workflows
  • Experience working with revenue teams and understanding business metrics/KPIs
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform policy decisions, paired with excellent judgment in the face of complexity and ambiguity
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and business stakeholders

Bonus Points
  • Experience with Discord's platform and understanding of gaming/creator communities
  • Experience with subscription models, virtual goods, or in-app purchases

Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties). Relocation assistance may be available. For this role, the Hiring Manager would like folks to be in the office 2 days a week.
