What you'll do:

ICD is undergoing a significant commercial transformation, and data-driven insights play a critical role in improving customer experience, enabling growth, and making the division easier to do business with. This role requires a self-motivated problem solver who is comfortable navigating change, building new capabilities, and identifying opportunities to improve processes, decision-making, and business outcomes. At Eaton, making what matters work means bringing curiosity, accountability, and practical solutions that help the business move faster and serve customers more effectively.

The Commercial Insights Analyst will develop and maintain trusted data assets and reporting solutions that serve as a single source of truth for ICD's key financial performance metrics, forecast indicators, customer and channel insights, product portfolio performance, and operational service benchmarks.[BS1.1] A key deliverable for this role is the creation and ongoing enhancement of a unified self-service analytics hub for Product Managers (PMs), Product Line Managers (PLMs), Regional Sales Managers (RSMs), Sales Operations, and division leadership.

This role will also support and advance ICD's AI data readiness by establishing and maintaining the data, knowledge management, governance, and documentation practices required for effective use of enterprise AI capabilities. Responsibilities include managing commercial data structures, SharePoint knowledge sources, semantic models, metadata, and other foundational assets to enable the safe and effective use of Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power BI, GitHub Copilot, and related Microsoft technologies in support of sales enablement, portfolio growth, customer responsiveness, productivity improvements, and data-driven decision-making.

Essential Functions:

  • Data Access and Source Stewardship: Maintains access to relevant commercial data sources for the division and ensures datasets are clean, documented, governed, and fit for analytics, reporting, and AI-enabled use. Cleanses, shapes, and combines data using Power Query and transformation best practices; works across Excel, SQL, Snowflake, SAP BW, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other approved sources; and documents source ownership, refresh cadence, definitions, and business context so data is analysis-ready and AI-retrievable.
  • Data Modeling and Semantic Layer Development: Transforms and models data using Power BI, Python, R, and related tools to enable reporting, analysis, and AI-assisted insight generation. Builds efficient semantic models using star schemas, proper relationships, optimized joins, governed measures, calculated tables, and KPI definitions that can serve as trusted inputs for dashboards, Copilot-assisted analysis, and future automation and AI-enabled business processes.
  • Data Visualization and Decision Enablement: Designs effective, user-friendly reports aligned with Eaton standards and business priorities. Creates dashboards, landing pages, and self-service reporting experiences that consolidate key metrics, improve visibility across teams, and enable business users to independently explore data and derive actionable insights.
  • Commercial Analysis and Business Partnership: Supports priority commercial, product line, sales, and marketing initiatives by developing ad hoc analyses, reports, and data views based on defined business questions and stakeholder requirements. Supports trend analysis, forecasting activities, and performance measurement to improve business planning and decision-making. Partners with sales, marketing, product management, and commercial leadership to identify opportunities, evaluate business performance, communicate insights, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Training, Documentation, and User Enablement: Provides training, documentation, and support to business users and report consumers. Guides teams on self-service analytics, Power BI workspace usage, data literacy, responsible Copilot use, and best practices for interacting with governed data and reporting assets.
  • Data Governance and Knowledge Management: Maintains a commercial data dictionary documenting approved KPI definitions, source ownership, refresh cadence, business context, known limitations, and data lineage. Establishes and maintains governance standards for commercial data, SharePoint knowledge sources, semantic models, and approved enterprise content to support consistent reporting, trusted analytics, and AI readiness.
