Commercial Electrical Superintendent
Company: Design Electric, Inc.
Location: Charlottesville and Harrisonburg, VA
Position Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

The Commercial Electrical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field operations on complex commercial and industrial construction projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, field leadership, and customers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The Superintendent serves as a key leader in driving productivity, maintaining quality standards, and developing field personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise field teams ranging from 15-75 electricians and support staff
  • Coordinate manpower, scheduling, materials, tools, and equipment across multiple phases of construction
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with NEC, NFPA-70E, OSHA, and company standards
  • Develop and manage project work plans while forecasting manpower needs alongside leadership and HR
  • Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, contracts, schedules, and project documentation
  • Utilize company systems for labor tracking, production reporting, and material management
  • Communicate project updates, field changes, and jobsite concerns with Project Managers, General Contractors, engineers, and clients
  • Conduct jobsite meetings and maintain strong communication with all project stakeholders
  • Mentor and develop Foremen and field leadership while proactively addressing project challenges
  • Coordinate work activities with other trades to maintain project flow and deadlines
  • Maintain organized daily reporting and documentation throughout the lifecycle of the project
