Full Job Description

We’re looking for a Commercial Counsel to join Snap Inc.! As a member of the Legal team and working from our Santa Monica, CA headquarters, you’ll play a key role in Snap’s commercial transactions and advise teams throughout the company on legal issues spanning the breadth of Snap’s products and services. 

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as a legal partner for Snap’s global business transactions and operations, working with teams such as Engineering, IT, Strategic Sourcing, Finance, People, Workplace Experience, Security, and Philanthropy.

  • Review, draft, negotiate, and interpret agreements covering a broad range of Snap’s commercial activities around the world, including vendor agreements, non-disclosure agreements, master services agreements, data processing agreements, commercial real estate agreements, multinational supplier agreements, IP licensing and cloud computing (SaaS/IaaS/PaaS) agreements, and supply chain purchase agreements.

  • Analyze and advise on contracts related to general commercial contracting, technology development, SaaS, licensing, strategic sourcing, procurement, software integrations, partnerships, and commercial real estate. 

  • Identify and address data privacy, intellectual property, and AI issues arising from commercial transactions.

  • Provide strategic advice to Snap business partners related to business strategy, legal issues, and risks.

  • Assist in creating and improving agreements, templates, and policies to handle commercial legal issues in creative and scalable ways.

  • Exercise sound judgment when negotiating business and legal terms.

  • Occasionally collaborate with outside counsel.

  • Coordinate cross-functionally with colleagues from every part of the company.

  • Handle projects at the discretion of the leads of the Snap legal commercial team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.

  • Active membership in a United States state bar, or otherwise qualified to be a registered in-house counsel under California’s multi-jurisdictional practice program.

  • 4+ years of practicing law in-house and/or at a law firm.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience handling commercial transactions, ideally in-house at an internet, e-commerce, or technology company.

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position.These pay zones may be modified in the future.

The base salary range for this position is $173,000-$259,000 annually.

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $164,000-$246,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $147,000-$220,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
