Are you driven to win *every* bid opportunity you work on? Do you enjoy tracking details and wrapping it all up in to the big picture? If so then we should talk. We are looking for an organized, driven, and experienced Lead Estimator to be responsible for estimating the cost, overhead and profit of assigned company projects while generating and cultivating positive working relationships with owners and subcontractors. Our work is primarily in hospitality and multi-family, but we do get other commercial projects.
Primary Duties
• Identifies new bidding opportunities, continually focused on business development.
• Manages bid process and trains team members.
• Reviews plans, researches the bid documents & specifications to determine scopes of work.
• Organizes and runs initial and reoccurring daily bid check-in meetings.
• Oversees the creation of the invitation to bid and approves bidding documents.
• Manages and conducts focused subcontractor solicitation efforts, both calling and emailing.
• Tracks number of confirmed bidders against participation targets - reviews bid tracking sheet twice daily, hold team accountable for progress, sends updated tallies to company president daily.
• Monitors each division and acts early on under performing divisions.
• Oversees the management of the department email acount, subcontractor questions, issuance of RFIs & addendums, bid coding to associated received division folders(s).
• Prepares disciplined estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work, general conditions, and take-offs for self-perform and subcontractor proposal qualifications.
• Compiling and assembling estimates for the cost, overhead, and profit of assigned company projects, and preparing and formatting inward and outward facing cost breakdown documents.
• Review's subcontractor and supplier bids for conformity to contract requirements and makes final determination of acceptable bids. Assures that the bidding team acts with integrity and employs ethical behavior during all stages of the estimating process and follows Baldwin General's core values and beliefs.
Required Skills
• Strong organization, negotiation, communication and leadership skills
Qualifications
• 4 year degree in a construction related major
• Minimum 5 years estimating experience
• Must be able to pass a drug test and comply with our company vehicle safety program
• Authorized to work in the US
