We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead large-scale commercial electrical construction projects throughout the Detroit area. Projects include healthcare facilities, hospitals, universities, institutional buildings, and other complex commercial developments.
This position is best suited for a Project Manager with direct experience working for a commercial electrical contractor who understands the full project lifecycle-from turnover through closeout. You'll be responsible for managing project execution, financial performance, labor planning, procurement, scheduling, client communication, and overall project success.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can coordinate field operations, collaborate with estimating and BIM/VDC teams, and consistently deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities- Manage commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction turnover through final closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, manpower plans, procurement strategies, and execution plans.
- Oversee project budgets, cost forecasts, billing, labor productivity, committed costs, and profitability.
- Coordinate field supervisors, electricians, subcontractors, vendors, general contractors, and internal teams.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and project schedules.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, project documentation, and closeout requirements.
- Collaborate with estimating and BIM/VDC teams to ensure accurate scope, coordination, and successful field execution.
- Lead project meetings and maintain strong communication with clients, inspectors, design teams, and company leadership.
- Identify and resolve schedule, labor, material, coordination, and budget risks before they impact project performance.
- Ensure projects meet safety, quality, schedule, financial, and client satisfaction goals.
Requirements- 5+ years of Project Management experience in commercial electrical construction.
- Experience working for a commercial electrical contractor or self-performing electrical construction company is required.
- Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, installation methods, manpower planning, scheduling, and field operations.
- Proven ability to manage projects independently from startup through final closeout.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting, billing, procurement, labor productivity, and change orders.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, and construction schedules.
- Experience coordinating field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, general contractors, and internal departments.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities while maintaining financial accountability.
- Experience with healthcare, hospital, higher education, institutional, or other large commercial projects is preferred.
