Job Summary:

The Commercial Banking Officer focuses their attention and efforts on small business relationships with aggregate exposure up to $1 million. They are responsible for soliciting, negotiating, underwriting and coordinating the closing of small business loans, commercial real estate loans, and Agency guaranteed loans in compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures and maintaining strong credit quality. Develops business deposit relationships with customers, promotes the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. This position actively works with their designated market branch business development teams in attaining established Bank and branch goals through active participation in sales activities. Provides leadership, training and support to less experienced branch staff members.

Essential Functions:
  • Engages in business development activities by representing the Bank in various community and civic functions to further enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business.
  • Manages existing commercial relationships as assigned and monitored for risk and credit quality consistent with banks loan policy.
  • Engages in solicitation of new business, actively involved by instilling and maintaining a positive sales environment.
  • Interviews prospective applicants and requests specified information related to loan or credit application, corresponds or re-interviews applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.
  • Regularly meeting with existing or potential customers, negotiating loan terms and conditions. Gathers and analyzes all information necessary to present a financing request to obtain the required level of approval according to policy guidelines.
  • Identifies cross-sell opportunities for the Bank's other products and services, referring customers to appropriate staff as needed. These services include referrals to cash management, commercial leasing, merchant services, commercial credit card services, as well as investment and wealth management services.
  • Coordinates processing of approved loans ensures loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies.
  • Ensures that certification or deletion of collateral is made by the appropriate personnel.
  • Approves loan payments, draws from lines of credit, and fund transfers within specified limits.
  • Assists in meeting annual deposit and loan growth goals.
  • Responsible for providing the highest level of customer service and for adhering to the Bank's Core Values and Service Standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills, and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in commercial banking; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to be punctual for scheduled work and use time appropriately.
  • Perform duties in a conscientious, cooperative manner.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Comply with all Bank policies and procedures, including BSA and Information Security policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect the Bank by keeping information concerning Bank operations and customer information confidential.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to spend extended periods of time operating a computer keyboard and working at a computer monitor.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $78,000.00 to $90,000.00. Final compensation will be based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
