Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Business Control Management Officer to provide Business Control Management (BCM) support for Commercial Banking Operations, with primary coverage for Equipment Finance/Vendor Finance (EV/VF), Asset-Based Lending (ABL), and Capital Finance (CF) Operations. This role serves as a key risk and control partner responsible for strengthening the control environment across critical lending operations and transformation initiatives.
The position will lead risk and control activities associated with process redesign, platform modernization, automation initiatives, regulatory support, audit readiness, and control optimization while partnering closely with business, operations, technology, and risk stakeholders to drive operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
In this role, you will:
Provide Business Control Management oversight and risk consultation for Equipment Finance/Vendor Finance, Asset-Based Lending, and Capital Finance Operations.
Lead Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) and other risk management activities to identify, assess, and mitigate operational, compliance, and regulatory risks.
Partner with business and technology teams to design, enhance, and optimize controls supporting lending operations, process automation, and modernization efforts.
Oversee issue management activities, including root cause analysis, remediation planning, corrective action validation, and sustainable risk reduction.
Support large-scale operational transformation initiatives, including loan platform modernization, system redesign, workflow automation, and strategic technology implementations.
Provide risk oversight and challenge throughout project lifecycles to ensure effective control design and regulatory compliance during business and technology change.
Coordinate audit, regulatory examination, and independent testing activities, including preparation of documentation, management responses, and remediation tracking.
Partner with Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Credit Risk, and Control Management teams to strengthen governance, improve processes, and drive operational resiliency.
Monitor emerging risks, operational performance, and control effectiveness across lending operations and recommend enhancements where needed.
Support key business priorities, including Asset-Based Lending stabilization efforts, Equipment Finance/Vendor Finance automation initiatives, loan auto-booking enhancements, and migration activities to the LIQ platform.
Develop executive-level reporting, governance materials, and risk insights for senior management and business stakeholders.
Influence and challenge stakeholders to ensure timely risk identification, effective remediation, and adherence to enterprise risk management standards.
This role requires strong experience in operational risk management, business process transformation, control design, and regulatory oversight within a complex financial services environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to navigate large-scale change initiatives, provide effective challenge to senior stakeholders, and drive sustainable risk and control outcomes across multiple lending businesses.
Required Qualifications:5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of Asset-Based Lending (ABL), Equipment Finance/Vendor Finance (EV/VF), and Capital Finance Operations, including associated operational processes, risks, and controls.
Demonstrated experience in Business Control Management, Operational Risk Management, or Control Management within a large, complex financial services organization.
Proven ability to lead Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), issue management, root cause analysis, and corrective action programs to strengthen the control environment.
Experience supporting large-scale business transformation initiatives, including platform modernization, process redesign, workflow automation, and technology implementations.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, audit management, control design, and governance practices within lending or banking operations environments.
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively challenge senior leaders, partner across business and technology teams, and communicate risk insights to executive audiences.

Ability to work on site per Wells Fargo's standard operating model in the listed location (hybrid schedule – 3 days on-site & 2 remote).
The ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$100,000.00 - $179,000.00
