Department Overview
As part of Governance, Planning and Communications within the CEO's office, the Communications Department plans, creates and delivers the overall communications and strategic plans for multiple projects across the Royal BC Museum. Our vision is to enhance the Royal BC Museum's profile in the community, with our internal and external partners, to increase attendance, awareness, understanding, support and participation in the Royal BC Museum's programs, exhibitions, research initiatives, archival and other revenue-generating services.
Job Overview
Under the general guidance of, and in consultation with, the Director of Communications, the Corporate Communications Manager contributes to a wide range of corporate communications initiatives, including planning, developing and implementing the organization's internal and external strategies; and liaising extensively with government, agencies, partners and other organizations as required to fulfil the internal and external communications needs and meet the Royal BC Museum's strategic priorities.
The objective of these activities is to increase awareness of the Royal BC Museum's strategic priorities and its provincial impact; increase support of the museum and archives; and strengthen and develop effective internal information tools and programs for staff on-site, off-site and online. The work requires liaising with Royal BC Museum Executive, ministry communications teams, other department representatives and volunteers. It also requires an understanding of the Royal BC Museum's strategic and program objectives, as well as proactive communication with a wide variety of key media, community representatives and business affiliates.
