HDR is currently seeking a Control Systems Business Class Leader (BCL) for our Building Engineering Services group located in Denver, CO. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Control Systems, Plumbing, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. We work in a wide variety of markets including Water, Tech/Media/Telecom, Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Science and Technology, Industrial, Federal and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. We have an industry leading focus on sustainable design and energy conservation.
The Control Systems BCL is responsible for the strategic vision, growth, operations, and technical leadership of the control systems team including technical design, staff development and mentoring, workload management, profitability, morale, and quality control. This dynamic individual will be engaged with clients and the engineering community. In this role, you will collaborate with the BES Business Group Manager to build strong external and internal client relationships with other HDR business group leadership. Other responsibilities include participating in marketing and project planning and serving as a representative of HDR to the local industry. There are three teams that make up the Denver Control Systems group. These include the Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Design team; Operational Technology (OT) team; and Building Automation Services / Building Management Systems (BAS/BMS) team.
In the role of Control Systems Business Class Leader, we'll count on you to:
• Take responsibility for operations of production team including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control, and marketing support.
• Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities.
• Take administrative responsibility for control systems staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections.
• Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews.
• Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues
• See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system
• Implement, monitor and support company policy
• Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel
• Manage and develop multidiscipline teams
• Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts
• Coordinate and champion hiring of summer Interns
• Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 years business management experience.
• Minimum of 15 years of controls design and implementation experience with an architectural/engineering, system integration, and/or industrial firm.
• Ability to manage, lead and mentor other team members
• Preference given to local (Colorado) candidates.
• Experience designing complex and large-scale water and wastewater, healthcare, industrial, laboratory, and/or mission critical data center facilities control systems.
• Experience in designing and implementing cyber security for control systems including virtualization and advanced networking practices.
• Experience with at least two of these areas: industrial control systems (ICS) design, Operational Technology, and/or commercial Building Automation Systems, desired.

• Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
• 10 years of experience
• Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
• Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
• Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
• Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
