eBay's Collectibles team leads the development and delivery of our FC Collectibles Initiative with a focus on our launched trading cards category, portfolio of collectibles companies, and the ongoing expansion of FC coverage across the diverse Collectibles vertical, including Coins, Toys, Comics, and Sports Memorabilia.
In this role, you will be a key member of the Collectibles Strategy & Partnerships team reporting to the Director, Collectibles Strategy & Partnerships. As the Lead of the Collectibles Partnerships team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our direction for a broad range of external partnerships and potential inorganic moves, with the overarching goal of driving growth and strengthening our strategic position in this priority focus area for eBay. You will be an important partner for internal stakeholders across the Global Business (Core and Live), Corporate Development, Product, Finance, Legal, eBay Ventures, and more. We are looking for a proactive, bold, and strategic leader who is passionate about building relationships and identifying opportunities for collaboration for eBay Collectibles.
What you will accomplish: - Identify and develop strategic partnerships that drive growth and profitability globally
- Set the overall strategic vision for commercial partnerships and inorganic, defining how partners or targets align to eBay's overarching goals and position in the market
- Serve as a thought leader and partner, working closely with the Collectibles Strategy team, Regional Business Units, executive leadership, and Product teams to deliver against strategic priorities and continuously identify new and innovative ways to drive business growth
- Develop and manage partnership pipeline, providing leadership with strong recommendations and rationale on what partners should be prioritized
- Lead contract negotiations and extensions with external partners, partnering with eBay's Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to shape value-accretive deals for eBay and reach agreement in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including serving as a main point of contact and relationship owners for partners
- Proactively identify and address any challenges or issues that may arise in partnership collaborations
- Stay up-to-date on industry developments and competitor activities to inform our perspective on the industry landscape and how that informs our partnership strategy
- Serve as the business lead for Collectibles inorganic, working with closely with Corporate Development on the strategic rationale, synergy story, and integration plan
- Build a strong collectibles partnership team to expand our reach as a center of excellence, coach a team, and represent the eBay brand and values
- Monitor and track partnership performance and budgets, working closely with Finance and Accounting to provide regular updates and insights to senior management
- Act as a brand ambassador for eBay, representing the company in a professional and positive manner

- Strong conceptual thinking to be able to define the strategic rationale for any individual deal and specific terms (e.g., market landscape, new trends)

- Deep expertise in contract negotiation, with the ability to create well-structured term sheets and assess negotiating tactics and potential trade-offs
- Ability to create refined strategic, executive-level materials around our overall partnerships strategy and the role of specific deals
- Ability to think through high-level strategic implications, while also being able to zoom in to the detail (e.g. product requirements, legal nuances, operational challenges)
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills to help assess and model deal potential (e.g., M&A synergy models, rates negotiations, trade-off assessment)
- Fast learning and a willingness to dive into the details of new and emerging business models in Collectibles (e.g., breaks, repacks, instant liquidity)
- Ability to function in an ambiguous and fast changing environment
- Excellent stakeholder management to ensure that their teams are engaged to build the best solutions possible
- Experience managing senior leaders: Clarifying roles and responsibilities, and cutting through complexity, to deliver
- Clear, succinct, communication style. Able to explain highly complex topics simply
- Team leadership, including coaching and mentoring
Qualifications:
- 7-10 years experience in Strategic Partnerships, Business Development, Corporate Strategy, Management Consulting, or Investment Banking
- Consistent track record of negotiating and managing external partnerships
- Knowledge and understanding of e-commerce business model, industry trends, and competitive landscape
- Expertise in financial modeling in a partnerships / inorganic context
- Ability to create executive level presentations and memos
- Collectibles industry interest and / or experience a plus
Additional DetailsThe applicable base pay range for this position is dependent on work location. The base pay range in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City Metro and Seattle Metro is expected in the range below:
$178,800 - $238,700
The base pay range for all other U.S. work locations is expected in the range below:
$135,200 - $219,500
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
