Platform Engineers translate high level platform design into low level technical design and are responsible for implementing, administering, supporting, and patching their corresponding platforms. Platform Engineers work closely with Solution Architects to enable the capabilities defined on roadmaps and blueprints supporting platform programs and initiatives. Platform Engineers are well versed in modern data, infrastructure and integration platforms, industry/technology best practices and actively work on improving the reliability and scalability of infrastructure.
The Workplace Services team is pivotal in shaping the digital experience for this vast workforce. We are seeking an experienced Google Workspace Engineer to administer, support, and optimize our core collaboration and productivity suite. This role is critical in supporting a global user base of over 300,000 employees, ensuring seamless, secure, and efficient access to Google Workspace, Smartsheet, and Lucidcharts.
The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in large-scale Google Workspace environments and has proven experience managing enterprise Collaboration platforms and SaaS applications. You will be responsible for technical administration, Tier 3 support, security policy enforcement, and process automation to enhance employee productivity across our global operations.
ROLE- Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical engineer for the enterprise collaboration suite, including Google Workspace (Admin Console, Gmail, Drive, Vault, Gemini), Smartsheet, and Lucidchart.
- Leads the day-to-day administration, configuration, maintenance, and architecture of all core collaboration platforms to support a global workforce.
- Designs and executes global rollouts, configuration baselines, and change management processes for new and existing features and tools.
- Implements, maintains, and enforces security controls and governance policies (DLP, data residency, conditional access, SSO/SAML, OAuth) in close collaboration with Information Security, Compliance, and Identity teams.
- Designs and implements secure, efficient collaboration solutions using Google Drive and Docs, including managing API-driven workflows for file storage, sharing controls, and document generation.
- Ensures the platform remains compliant with internal standards, best practices, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Develops, maintains, and leverage scripting and automation tools (Google Apps Script, Python, PowerShell, GAM) to reduce operational load and enhance service quality.
- Leads the integration of Google Workspace and complementary collaboration platforms (Smartsheet, Lucidchart) with other enterprise systems to create seamless, efficient cross-departmental workflows.
- Leads and supports data migration projects between collaboration platforms (e.g., from M365 to Google Drive).
- Acts as the highest point of technical escalation (Tier 3) for complex or critical issues related to platform functionality, identity, security, or API integrations.
- Leads root cause analysis (RCA) and maintains SLA and incident management processes, including participation in on-call rotations.
- Develops and performs knowledge transfer to global support teams to delegate resolution of recurring support requests and reduce escalation volume.
- Evaluates emerging collaboration technologies and industry trends, developing strategic recommendations and roadmaps to enhance the digital employee experience.
- Develops and maintains detailed reporting on collaboration tool usage, system performance, security posture, and license management.
- Conducts research and makes recommendations on standards, products, and services.
- Partners with IT asset management to optimize platform licensing at an enterprise scale, providing data-driven recommendations for cost control and feature adoption.
- Develops and delivers technical guidance, training programs, and comprehensive documentation for global support teams and end-users on platform usage and best practices.
- Develops and executes integration testing plans (as needed).
- Supports large-scale user/directory integrations and ensures the support ecosystem is prepared for new feature rollouts.
REQUIRED- 3+ years of hands-on experience administering, securing, and evolving Google Workspace (or Microsoft M365) in a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Google Workspace Administrator certification (or relevant Microsoft/Cloud equivalent).
- Deep expertise in Google Workspace security and compliance features, including Vault, DLP, auditing, and threat analysis.
- Proven experience implementing and managing API-driven automation for Google Workspace services.
- Hands-on experience with Google Workspace API security, OAuth, and API integrations.
- Proficiency in writing and executing GAM (Google Apps Manager) command-line scripts.
- Proficiency with Google Apps Script for custom solutions and automation.
- Hands-on experience with third-party Google Workspace management/automation tools (e.g., Bettercloud).
- Strong knowledge of identity and access management principles, including hands-on experience with GCDS (Google Cloud Directory Sync) and/or integrating Google Workspace with modern IDPs (e.g., AWS IAM, Azure Active Directory).
- Strong understanding of governance, policy creation, and lifecycle management for collaboration platforms.
- Experience with continuous monitoring, security compliance, and risk analysis frameworks specific to cloud environments.
- Knowledge of and proficiency with leveraging AI tools, including Gemini for Workspace, to enhance platform functionality, support, and user experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced operations environment.
Recommended- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field, and/or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Level 1 - $85,000 - $110,000
Level 2 - $105,000 - $135,000
Level 3 - $130,000 - $160,000
Level SR - $150,000 - $190,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
Level Staff - $180,000 - $225,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
