Full Job Description
  • Accountable for safety and environmental leadership while on duty; including training, audits, enforcement of work practices and associated corrective measures to ensure a safe working environment. In the event of an incident proper procedures must be followed, including an initial investigation performed on the shift when the incident occurred.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the hourly workforce through direct supervision to ensure the completion of the production schedule while achieving optimum performance from the production line. Detailed monitoring of hourly yields, losses, and KPI's to anticipate and react to conditions which would lead to lower-than-expected performance.
  • Carries out administrative duties to ensure that the correct manning levels are met, production requirements are maintained on all shifts, and timecards are accurately maintained. In addition, verification and completion of shift documentation in the form of a summary report is to be completed at the conclusion of every shift.
  • Work closely with the other supervision within the plant to ensure the production goals of all departments are met, including manning movement within the production / warehouse team and optimization of maintenance.
  • Provides support to the Production Manager Cold End / Materials and process engineers by implementing process improvement actions.
  • Coordinates training for individual shift crews as required.
  • Investigates and resolves problems related to process variables to optimize plant operation.
  • Champion the workforce to sustain and improve the standards of housekeeping, orderliness, and cleanliness in all areas of the plant. Coordinate documenting and implementation of "Quick Kaizens" generated by shift.

Salary range: $76,152 - $95,183

Scope/Dimensions

  • Has the organizational freedom to assign work within the context of the labor agreement to achieve shift goals.
  • Should interact with and provide constructive feedback for plant performance improvements to all plant personnel during various meetings and electronic communications.
  • Work rotating shifts in a continuous production environment.

Qualifications Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Computer and software proficiency - including strong knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent Mechanical aptitude


Qualifications Desired:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or similar field.
  • Previous Glass manufacturing experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Six Sigma or other Lean Manufacturing Certification - Greenbelt or above
  • Advanced Problem-Solving Skills (Six Sigma)
  • Strong analytical, innovative, and strategic competencies
  • Practical experience in batch plant and furnace operations, float glass forming, annealing and/or online CVD coating is desired.


Other Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this position, works around moving machines, chemicals, and high temperature in an industrial environment.
  • Requires the ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must occasionally travel by commercial means or private transport.
  • Involves prolonged periods of standing and walking, often exceeding 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, crouch, kneel, and maintain balance in various working environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds, occasionally over 20 pounds.
