Responsibilities

  • Lead any DV/PV testing and drive resolution of issues during testing phases
  • Provide support for onsite supplier builds across US and international locations
  • Manage resolution of cockpit issues throughout the build phases

Cockpit Systems Engineer - Project Scope

Novi, Mi.

Requirements
  • On-Site (Novi, MI) engineer to support activities as dictated by the point of time of the development cycle.
  • 10+ years experience in Instrument Panel / Cockpit Systems engineering thru all development phases
  • Understanding of Instrument Panel / Cockpit system requirements, ability to advise on best practices and design guidelines
  • Expertise with GD&T, locator and dimensional strategy, interface features
  • Expertise with material and fastener selection
  • Strong understanding of the quality process from DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA and Control plans
  • Experience with Catia and/or Vis Mock-up software system and pulling in and cutting sections in data.
  • Experience with release systems and implementing design changes
  • Fast resolution of open issues for instrument panel / console
  • Plus to have knowledge of the VW systems
  • Proficient ability to read, speak, and understand English
  • Take direction from OEM Engineering to modify components for engineering/design/safety requirements

Outline of Tasks
  • Work with OEM engineers and suppliers to develop OEM standards & requirements for instrument panel and cockpit systems and interior fasteners
  • Work with OEM engineers and suppliers to develop OEM standard DVP&R for instrument panel and cockpit system
  • Work with Supplier(s) to ensure proper upload of data into the VW system
  • Part updates and changes to existing parts / assemblies needed to support manufacturing feasibility, part performance improvements, and/or changes to interfacing components /systems.
  • Work with supplier to ensure tooling timing supports downstream deliverables
  • Support instrument panel and cockpit commodity DV/PV testing and lead issue resolution
  • Support supplier builds on site (various sites, US and international)
  • Support onsite OEM builds (Blythewood, South Carolina)
  • Issue resolution for all open IP/Cockpit issues thru build phase(s)
