Basic Job Functions:

The primary duties of the Coatings & Shipping Manager will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Acting as an active contributor to the NTS leadership team
  • Participation in the planning, programming, budgeting and execution of NTS's growth strategy
  • Managing daily operations for coating, finishing, galvanizing, yard organization, and shipping departments
  • Leading all coating operations and oversees the daily operations of a plant that applies protective zinc coating to steel products through the galvanization process
  • Directing all outbound logistics, including load planning, freight coordination, and carrier management
  • In concert with plant leadership, developing and executing a plan to build a team that maintains manpower requirements through proper staffing, training, and development of production teammates, supervisors, and other technical personnel
  • Managing the use of plant resources to ensure all plant operations are meeting or exceeding safety, quality, and production goals


Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, coatings, logistics, or related industrial operations

  • Supervisory or lead-worker experience in a production or yard environment

  • Knowledge of industrial coatings, preservatives, or finishing processes

  • Ability to operate or supervise operation of forklifts, cranes, and pole-handling equipment


  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in profit and loss responsibility, plant maintenance, production scheduling and personnel management

  • Technical knowledge supporting industrial controls and/or automated systems and integrating automated equipment into production systems
