Job Description

The Portfolio Lifecycle Manager is responsible for developing and executing customer lifecycle marketing strategies designed to increase card usage, grow spend, strengthen customer engagement, reduce attrition, and support long-term portfolio profitability. This role leads the planning, implementation, and optimization of multi-channel marketing programs targeting existing customers across the customer journey.

The Portfolio Lifecycle Manager collaborates with Product, Compliance, Risk Management, Legal, Analytics, Operations, Servicing, and partner organizations to ensure all marketing programs adhere to internal policies, external regulatory requirements, and partner obligations. The role also supports the development and execution of partner marketing initiatives, industry events, training programs, and customer engagement activities designed to achieve portfolio growth and retention goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute lifecycle marketing strategies to drive customer spend, engagement, retention, and portfolio profitability.
  • Design and manage multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital, direct mail, email, mobile, online banking, partner channels, and other customer touchpoints.
  • Create customer segmentation, targeting, and contact strategies that improve relevance and customer experience.
  • Develop retention and attrition prevention programs using customer insights, data analytics, and behavioral trends.
  • Partner with co-brand organizations to align marketing priorities and execute joint marketing initiatives.
  • Evaluate campaign performance and provide recommendations to optimize results, improve customer outcomes, and maximize return on investment.
  • Lead testing strategies and continuous improvement efforts to identify new growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with agencies and internal creative teams to develop marketing materials, communications, promotions, and training resources.
  • Ensure all communications, offers, and marketing programs comply with applicable laws, regulations, partner requirements, and bank policies.
  • Partner with Compliance, Risk, Legal, and Product teams to support marketing reviews and approvals.
  • Coordinate and support marketing events, seminars, sponsorships, partner initiatives, and customer engagement programs.
  • Provide strategic recommendations and problem-solving support to achieve business line objectives.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines, budget requirements, and performance targets.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Six or more years of related experience in marketing, lifecycle marketing, customer engagement, retention, or marketing strategy.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing data-driven marketing programs that deliver measurable business results.


Preferred Skills / Experience
  • Strong understanding of customer lifecycle management, retention marketing, portfolio growth strategies, and customer engagement best practices.
  • Ability to lead projects and develop marketing programs that are data-driven, customer-centric, and highly relevant.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and assignments that are completed on time and within budget.
  • Experience working with external partners to drive growth objectives and achieve shared business goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience leveraging customer insights, analytics, and testing methodologies to optimize marketing performance.
  • Ability to collaborate with research teams and business leaders to adapt strategies based on customer feedback, research findings, and campaign results.
  • Strong working knowledge of marketing compliance, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices within a highly regulated industry.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages and marketing technologies.
  • Experience supporting co-brand, financial services, loyalty, or partnership marketing programs preferred.
  • MBA or equivalent markers of high achievement are a plus.


Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
